Virgin Nokias are GID1 locked, so code 5 is the one to go for.

Re: Unlocking Nokia 8310, have codes but can`t get it working
Hello,
I'm just waiting for my brother to come and so I could unlock his 3510i (I
haven't downloaded any code calc yet, but no problem)...
> Even I don't know 100% always what to use, but 1, then 7 seems to work
most
> of the time.
I understood that way : level 7 locks all, so unlocking with code 7 should
always work - seems I was wrong.
> - Just make sure you have the right SIM card code
The unlock should be made with no SIM in as I read above. So what's the SIM
code has to do here ?
Where could I find a suitable SIM code, then ? (Phone is on Orange France
network).
> - right IMEI entered
> - right dongle type (usually 2).
Could you be cleared on the dongle type ?
> If nothing works on 1, 2 - STOP - seek advice.
Huh, I wouldn't go further :-)

Re: Unlocking Nokia 8310, have codes but can`t get it working
Are they 23400 or 23430 though these days?
I get the impression you can do locked 3510i on code 5 with 23400?

If you pick Virgin Mobile on an online calculator,
you won't need to guess if the network code is 23400 or 23430

Re: Unlocking Nokia 8310, have codes but can`t get it working
Here is an example
1). Remove your simcard from your cellphone
2). Enter code (Code 1) As u see below
3). If it doesn't work, then use code (code7) instead.
4). Now, congratulation, your phone can use any simcard :-)
How to enter the unlock code.
P: Enter at "*" button 3 times <to get an: p, press the * button 3 times
w: Enter at "*" button 4 times <to get an: w, press the * button 4 times
+: Enter at "*" button 2 times <to get an: +, press the * button 2 times
Forklaring omkring hvordan man indtaster oplåsningskoden.
P: tryk på "*" knappen 3 gange
w: tryk på "*" knappen 4 gange
+: tryk på "*" knappen 2 gange
KODE1 = #pw+027243746504441+1#
KODE7 = #pw+184874202220070+7#
Notice: If you enter wrong code 5 times, it's no longer possible to
unlock the phone with using unlock codes.
Instead your phone will be locked, and you need a cable to unlock the phone.
For unlocking of cellphones, the price are 6,52GBP per cellphone.

Re: Unlocking Nokia 8310, have codes but can`t get it working
Looking at the html it says 23430, but I don't think this is the norm
nowadays...
Anyone?
- Does your calculator generate the V2 codes yet? Or is it still dated?

Some phones don't like Code 7 and yet they may do multi-locks, so maybe
individual codes or code 5 may help in these instances.
A 7650 I tried once (think was that) worked on Code 1, not Code 7 - but
maybe because only one lock was locked. Ie O2.

Here's a good tip. Get a DCT3 phone, and unlock it with a cable. Relock
the phone to the SIM card you want the op no of.
Now read the DCT3 phone and in Lock 1 closed should be the operator number
you need!
See my example - it shows 23410 has changed to 23430 (That Virgin SIM's
no...)

Most codes these days are v2 types. Not v1 anymore.

You need a cable solution after five wrong attempts.

Ok, so the right order would be 1 then 7 if no joy.

Or network monitor, watching the authorized network codes (left row), on
screen 6, IIRC.

OK, I now understand what you meant. Indeed, you were talking about the
network code, with the country on 3 digits then network on 2 last digits.
This gives, for Orange France, 208-01 (or 20801). You would have written
network code, I would have got it.
> Most codes these days are v2 types. Not v1 anymore.
OK. Good to know !
> You need a cable solution after five wrong attempts.
OK, so I have enough tries to give on lock 1 then 5 then 7 (that's the order
I'd take).

I would say 1, 7, 5 is better.
5 and 7 are similar. Code 5 does locks 1 and 2, whereas Code 7 does locks
1, 2, 3, 4 (or all).
So if Lock 7 fails, likely Lock 5 will too - but unconfirmed! Seems that
for some phones that use Lock 1 and 2 - maybe Code 5 works better than Code
7. Otherwise you need a cable and http://www.b-phreaks.co.uk/ software.
Appreciate feedback here, maybe will add to the guide...

There is no need for such guesswork. For Orange, Virgin, and Vodafone Live!
use code 5. For everything else (UK) lock 1 will suffice.

And for France (network is Orange, formerly Itineris - pointless here, just
for information : Itineris moved to Orange after France Telecom bought
Orange twice its value).

Feedback on Virgin info here in this thread would be very much appreciated.
