What the hell

Myself and a mate bought a nokia phone on the cheap, inserted our sim cards
and hey presto they worked fine. About an hour later the phones stoped
working, it seems that the phones have been blocked by the phone network.
What if anything can i do to get my phone working. Is there any software i
can use to sort this out?

You said it, you bought them on the cheap. They've been blocked by the
networks as lost or stolen. You're buggered, basically.

sounds like the guy you bought it off reported it stolen (probably so he
could claim on his insurance) The networks then blocked it....your flucked

If you bought them "on the cheap" perhaps they were stolen phones. If
that's the case the network may have those phones' IMEIs blacklisted.
If that's the case they probably won't register on any network that
shares blacklists.

So it can be done? How would i be caught? If the IMEIs are changed how
would they know the whereabouts of the phone?

Im more curious than anything else.

You really expect anyone here to tell you how to break the law..? Even if
someone was willing to, which I for one am not, I'd be a fool to do so in
a public forum, now wouldn't I..?!

If you're curious as to what will happen when you break the law, try
breaking one in front of a policeman and he'll soon show you..!

You need to change the imei number, only a service centre, or unscrupulous
unlocker like the type found on markets would do such a thing. however like
has been said before it carries a hefty prison sentance. And as far as
getting caught do you know every imei combination given to every phone
sold...........? nope........ so its a fair bet that you will end up
sharing someone elses and when phones register with the network how much
information is sent??? and then its simply triangulation so to round this up
its probably easier to give the guy who sold em to u a good kicking.

ps. what does it matter whether u post on top, bottom or in the middle, i
really dont understand this pedantic need to whinge.

Bull! That may be true in your neck of the woods, but here in the UK,
people are being prosecuted on a regular basis for doing just that. If
convicted, they face an unlimited fine and five years in prison.
