There's always a better phone out there, but for what I want my phone
to do and my budget this seems like the best bet.

I ended up ordering both phones to compare them. First of all, the
7210 I got now is NOT like the one that was stolen. The battery life
has improved drastically, and even some colours are different (the
email icon, if I remember correctly, was red and now is black). This
could be because the old one was a dud, but I tend to believe that the
firmware was updated (didn't check though, as I don't remember the old
version). The 5100, well, is buggy so far. I didn't use it much
however because I did not succeed in connecting it to my notebook to
transfer the phonebook, radio stations, etc.
The Infrared manager correctly identifies the phone as being a 5100,
but the Nokia Suite sees it as an "Unknown" phone. As a result, I
cannot do much with it. I cannot transfer anything.

This is perplexing particularly since I can connect the 7210 without a
hitch. So I updated the Nokia Suite to the latest version, straight
from the nokia.ca website. I uninstalled the previous version,
rebooted, installed the new one, reboot, but still the same problem.
So I ended up using just the 7210 so far.

As for the look & feel of the 5100, I would disagree with the
contention that it's a chick phone (even though I couldn't see a man
using it in any of the advertising materials ). The keys are indeed
a bit harder to push, but not that much, considering that the 7210's
are not too easy either. Furthermore, the 5100 improvements (sound
meter, thermometer, flashlight, adaptive sound level+LOWER PRICE)
overcompensate in my opinion for any perceived shortcoming. If only I
could get Nokia Suite to talk to it, I wouldn't hesitate to keep it!

I've been on the phone with Nokia technical support (dumb), customer
service (dumber) and even tried contacting Fido, but couldn't get
through past the customer service. I'll be going to see the
technicians in Eaton Centre as soon as I can...

If you have any suggestion regarding Nokia Suite & 5100, please, let
    me know!

I have a similar problem... Although in my case the Nokia suite
identifies the phone correctly but the Nokia tools say it is not
    connected.
You should try Oxygen Phone Manager, works flawlessly with my 5100, even
though it identifies the phone as a 6100.

That's dumb. It is unlikely that you will find a man advertising
anything unless it is strictly necessary... for obvious reason.
Besides its design resembles the (original) iMac design. So what about
iMac computers? Are those only for women also?

I'd say, download the Oxygen Phone Manager Demo and use it until they
    fix the Nokia suite.

fixed the problem. the nokia suite from nokia.ca (and possibly other nokia
sites) was the incorrect version and it wasn't 5100 aware. downloading from
nokia.com corrected the problem. they may have corrected it on .ca as well.
