My 8850 has recently been experiencing screen/display problems and now it's
gone bad. The screen use to freeze every so often and to fix it I could
switch the phone off or press around the screen. Now the screen displays
nothing. Backlight still works fine. If I want to see what's on the screen I
have to press on the screen or around the earpiece - I have to keep my thumb
down to keep the display.
Is this problem easy to fix on my own or do I need to take it to a shop to
repair? Also any guide on how to dismantle the phone and what replacement
parts will I need?
Thanks,
Dave

Something like this will do the job:

It would almost certainly sound like an elastomer. If buying on an auction site
ask for the colour of the elastomer.
If it is black and white or pink and black steer well clear they are copies and
to put it bluntly are crap.
We were giving them away free and if we have any left you can have the lot as
they are crap.
HOpe this helps :-)
