I notice that the Nokia accessories booklet that came with my Tracfone
(with Nokia 5180i) lists an ultra-extended Li-ion battery at 1500 mAh.
Someone on eBay is selling Li-ion vibrating batteries that he says are
compatible with Nokia 5180 at 2700 mAh. Is this possible? Or will the
phone explode? Thanks.

Stay away from aftermarket cell phone batteries. Consensus from reading
other posts in other alt.cellular... newsgroups: "...aftermarket batteries
work, but are either not reliable or they aren't reliable for long. "
I can't believe you're really doing that much talking using a TracFone.
Cost/minute is 33 cents at best. But in receive mode only, the 900 mAh
battery that comes with the 5180i runs it for about 4 days and nights.
It should not be any problem getting a 2700 mAh as for heat stress or power
over load. The phone will only use as much power as it needs anyways,
unless you have a short.
I have a 5180i TracFone as well, but I only use it for emergencies, so my
minutes are building up, not depleting over time.
Hope this helps.

My 5180i can only get 24-36 hours of standby time at best. Using an older
BLS-2N battery decreases that to 24 hours. I have my T-Mobile phone (for
which I use 1000+ voice minutes and 2500+ text messages) so that standby
time is *without* any use at all. I'll post more in the Yahoo! group.

Re: Will 5180i Take A Super Power Battery?
As a matter of fact, I also use my Tracfone only for emergencies and
have had no problems with the original battery that Josh mentions. I
basically only use the phone for outgoing and give the number to very
few people, checking the voicemail from time to time. As you might
surmise, I'm one of these strange folks who don't like being
contacted. However, that's neither here nor there. So, if I wanted to
just have a spare battery, just in case, the recommendation would be
to order it directly from Nokia, not buy a "compatible" one at a
better price on the Internet. Thanks.

Get a Nokia OEM battery. Stay away from the generic stuff. BMS-2S
batteries on eBay should be cheap. I've got TONS because of all the phones
I buy/resell -- the Nokia 51xx series was once very popular..and technically
it still is

What price range would you consider to be good for this battery on
ebay? What is the official Nokia price for a new one? Thanks.
