I have installed Nokia data suite for the 6100. I only use this
occassionally but it appears in my system tray every time I start my
computer with no option of disabling it by right clicking the icon.
How do I stop it loading automatically? I also tried unistalling and
re-installing to see if there was an option to stop it loading each time I
booted the PC but this was not found.

Re: Data suite in system tray
I use this way to stop it booting.
start/program files/startup and just delete the program I don't want to
start with windows.

Thanks for your reply. There are no programs within this folder, I had
already emptied it (though Nokia Data Suite was never in there in the first
place).

Start-run-msconfig-start-up then uncheck Data suite

....as KG said, but to make it a bit more clear for those of your running PC
Suite (is that what you meant anyway)... go to start menu, go to Run, enter
"msconfig", click ok, select the "Startup" tab, and untick the box next to
"ncltray". It appears to load whenever you run one of the Nokia applications
and, as you said, no way to exit it or stop it. You can kill the process
with ctrl-alt-del and finding ncltray.
Of course, if you're running XP you can just tell it to hide it, although it
does tie up 5MB or memory.

Re: Data suite in system tray
beware removing it from the msconfig startup tab.
I did this, then uninstalled it to load up an older version (for my 8310)
and when I had finished with the old datasuite and reinstalled the latest
version, I had two copies of the nokia tray in the startup tab of msconfig.
I dunno how to get rid of one without killing the program itself.
maybe a clean uninstall and registry hack perhaps ?

Click Start -> /Run..., type regedit, press ENTER
Search for "runonce" 2x (press F3 to activate search routine).
Select "Run" above the 2nd runonce and remove "ncltray" entries.
This prevents ncltray.exe from being loaded upon each system startup.
When PC Sync app is started, ncltray.exe will be loaded into the RAM and not
be
terminated upon exiting the program. The only way I know to terminate
ncltray.exe then is Ctrl+Alt+Del, click Task Manager and look for
ncltray.exe on the "Processes" cue card. Terminate that app and you're fine.
HTH.
Kind regards,
Olaf
