I just got a Nokia 6610 and looking through the settings I cannot seem
to find the setting that will give me delivery reports when I send
SMS. Is it there? If so under which menus? Looked at the message
settings menu and don't find it there.

    TIA

Menu 1 to get into Messages
    Option 6 Message Settings
    Option 1 Text Messages
    Option 1 Sending Profile
Option 1 Default Profile (or whatever profile you are using)
    Option 5 Delivery Reports

That's because O2 don't support the facility. There is a code you can
enter at the start of a message though which will give a report, but I
can't remember what it is, it's been posted here several times though.

the code for o2 is: *0# (star zero hash, no spaces)

just type in this code at the start of a text message then write the
message. I have this as a template of my 6610.

That's what I thought. After being on the phone with Nokia they told
me basically that they couldn't help me. So did T-Mobile who didn't
even know what delivery reports was!

Basically the problem is that under the message settings it's supposed
    to show:

    Message center number
    Default recipient number
    Use GPRS
    Reply via same center
    Messages sent as
    Message validity
    Delivery reports
    Rename sendign profile

    My phone only shows:

    Message center number
    Default recipient number
    Use GPRS
    Reply via same center

So basically I'm missing four settings choices. Nokia says it's
perfectly normal that way and that my provider (T-Mobile) has chosen
to remove those choices. It doesn't make much sense to me as with
three other Nokias that I've used on the T-Mobile network I've had the
choice of how to send messages and the ability to enable delivery
reports. Of course it doesn't help much that the people at T-Mobile
don't have a clue what delivery reports are or that they were the
first major GSM provider in the US.

Oh well. I'm giving the phone as a present and if I was going to keep
it I'd have someone flash it with "generic" firmware so I could have
    full menu choices.
