Does anyone know if there is a key sequence I can input to allow my mobile

easy. press the number key that corresponds to the first digit of your
number, then press the number key that corresponds to the second digit, and
so on, until your number is displayed.

    (sorry, couldn't resist :-) )

There is a code, but I'm not sure if it's network dependant or not. UK Voda
    lists it as

    *#100#

There is no standard code for that.

The easiest way to find it out is to call someone with Caller ID on.

Back to the group, and still up to the old jokes, aren't you? ;-)

Definitely network dependant, have you ever tried that code out. If I type
that into my phone, it just sends it out and secconds later I receive an
    error message.

The only solution I could think of: Look up on your SIM card, most providers
store your own number there. Or enabled CLIP and make a call to someone
who's got a phone with caller ID display on - most mobiles of the past ten
years support that feature - and ask the call receiver to read the number
    back. :-)

    Kind regards,
    Olaf

thanks for the suggestions including typing it in myself!

I tried *#100# but it just says an error message.

If it helps it is a Nokia phone (3510i) and the network is Virgin.

OK, has everybody had their fun now? :-)

And here are the GSM hash codes to display / prevent displaying your number
    on the call receiver's phone:

*31# in front of the number you dial -> your number will be shown
#31+ in front of the number you dial -> your number won't be shown

    HTH.

    Kind regards,

Actually it's #31# before the number to hide your CLIP.

    Try this:
Menu: Call register - Call costs - Call cost settings
    (you need PIN2)
    Show costs in: Units
    Call cost limit: On
Number of units: (type in your phone number - max.8 digits)
    after that:
Menu: Profiles - Personalise a profile and rename it
    to your preselection Number
    activate this profile

    So on your Display is:
    Providername
    Preselectionnumber
    Phonenumber

    HTH

Not on Orange PAYG it won't, they don't allocate a number till you call to
register. Contract phones come with the number on the box though.
