A foster daughter of mine has a 3650 and want to keep certain messages
from her boyfriend private for other kids.
Is there a program that can store sms in the 3650 and let them hide
from certain eyes ?
By providing a password or something before you can see them ?
I know, she can lock her phone..but thats not what she want.
Nick.

there is no easy way to do it.
You can play about with changing the settings to store messages on the
memory card, it will offer to copy all the messages across. then you can
switch back to phone memory (or vice versa depending which one you already
used). you can then delete the messages from the phone memory, so anyone
looking through couldn't find them, but you can switch over to the memory
card to view your old messages.
problem is this only works once, and any subsequent messages you receive
will go into the currently selected memory. and you can't just select a few
messages to copy over to the other memory, it's an all or nothing selection.
the next time to try and switch memories, it won't offer to copy them
across- because it detects the mail filing system already on the memory
card. It would work to hide a folder of messages from an ex partner, leaving
you an archive, but not one you can add to.
Another possibility is to play around with the message files themselves, but
I haven't been able to work out the filing system in a way that gives easy
access, and you could end up corrupting the mail system if you aren't
careful.
The only way to keep messages secure is to not show them to anyone. if one
of your friends starts going through your messages at every opportunity, do
you really want them as a friend? just keep them all in folders, and when
you want to show a message to a friend, keep hold of the phone, or keep an
eye on what buttons they start pressing.

there is a way to do it, using modified flash mods from nokiafree.org
some mods for some phones ask for the security code when entering the sms
menu
cheers

Hi Martin,
Sounds not to easy for her...
Maybe someone makes a program for it.
Thanks for your time,
Nick.

Re: nokia 3650 protected sms possible ?
Hi Nick..
Have a look at
http://my-symbian.com/7650/applicati...Auto=467&faq=4
You may find something here. Although the above reflects 7650, MOST of their
software applies to 3650 also (Symbian for class 60 phones), as they both
use same software..
Good luck
