I have a Nokia Cark91 car kit fitted in my car.
I have just bought a Nokia 6610, very nice phone.
Can I replace my current car phone holder with the MBC-15s unit and
hence adapt my current car kit for the new phone ?
Thanks

No, you will need a new cradle, handsfree unit (box) and wiring loom, ie, a
whole new kit.

Unfortunately no. The new nokia car kits (such as the 126) has different
phone holders, different wiring loom, and different aerial connection. You
will need to buy a whole new kit (holder, car kit, aerial coupler).
I find this a common problem with so called "upgrades". Be it people buying
a new Pentium 4 processor for their Pentium 2 computer, or a person buying a
new MBC-15S phone holder for their Cark-91, they're old stuff is simply "too
out of date" and hence "doesn't fit" when it comes to upgrade time. Bummer
eh?

On the other hand, if your CARK-91 kit is in reasonable condition you could
sell it easily on eBay.

True - I got £60 for mine! About the same as what all the bits for my new
Cark 126 cost new from Expansys.

Re: Cark91 kit conversion
Hi.
The HFU (black box) has been modified. The Cark-91 works with HFU-2. The
newer car kits include a HFU-4. You may not simply change the phone holder.
All the old Cark has to be removed and exchanged by the new components!!
