    You should be fine. it's not the FAA your messing with it's the FCC.
    It's the fact you come into and out of so many towers when flying they are
    involved. your not using their towers - no problem.

    3300 again

    I asked about the problem with the music player and the aeroplane.
    Now if I put in a non-connecting simcard - a contractual one where the
    contract is terminated so it makes no connection.
    Is it the "attempt to connect" and fail that would be a problem for aircraft
    electronics or the "connection itself".
    Thanks for any opinion.

    yes because the transmitter side of the phone will still be active and would
    remain active while the phone was powered

    indeed, even though the network wouldn't accept the SIM, the phone would
    still be trying to log on, hence transmitting.

    if it was a DCT3, i guess we could turn off the transmitter by netmonitor
    menu45...hehe

    indeed. If it's that simple why can't it be done? perhaps the same reason
    you can't send stuff by IR on a series 40 phone. it's useful, and useful
    means bad in the nokia dictionary.
