    cd anybody suggest software for the purpose - and if poss a link?

    Thanks for the link barry - not getting on too well with this ! Have tried
    numerous different software appz. but they all fail to see the phone(s).

    I thought i had bought a Rolis Dejan flasher cable - but it appears to be a
    Teleway Cabix flasher cable.

    Don't suppose you know any appz. that would work with this - have Win98Se
    and WinXP machines.
    appreciate any further help.

    Use the program Rolis flasher (windows) or knoklin (linux) to upgrade
    your firmware.
    It's really easy, you need to have a normal data cable to do a 'FAID
    update' afterwards though. (but so you do to enable 3315 mode)
