I think it's gay of them in the first place to restrict use of these games
to just 1 handset, making it monopoly, think of it as an emulator, whats the
point of restricting other handsets from playing the games in the first
place.... so that nokia the greedy bastards can make more money from n-gage
sales!!!
my say is, if the hanset is capable, let it be, software developers also get
more exposure of their games and more people will talk about it then.
i dont even play games on the mobile (except maybe bounce when i'm bored)
but this is my 2p on the subject

I think I agree. There was no need restraining the games only for N-Gage.
Afterall, if one is serious for gaming he will buy that handset and not 6600
which costs almost the double and has a more traditional keyboard alignment.
I think N-Gage (and its sequels) will be hits on their own since they
provide two functions at one: mobile phone and game machine. As
Communicators provide mobile phone and PDA.

Yeah, I totally agree. Nokia has a history of these sort of practices
(although I don't think they're alone!), so it serves them right. Surely the
best thing would simply have been to make the n-gage the best device for
playing the games on rather than artificially (rather than letting hardware
be the limiting factor) limiting the phones the games could be played on.
Another 2p for the pot.

The other side is that the N-gage has been designed to play the games on,
hence the D pad. Has any one tried playing the games on any other handset?
There might be some control problems.

What's "gay" about it? Oh, I know... if you wanna play with it on another
phone, you need to use the backdoor!

Don't the N-Gage games come on some kind of cards??? So how could
Nokia have been able to let all Symbian 60 phones to play the same
games? Do all the other phones have a similar slot where you can
insert the game card?
Or... are you maybe suggesting Nokia shouldn't have included this
"game card" option in N-Gage in the first place?
Do you really think the big game companies (EA etc.) are interested in
making games for mobile phones, if the games were just some simple
downloadable Java games that anyone can pirate freely?

The games are supplied on MMC cards which have been write protected, most
Symbian mobils have an MMC slot fitted. The games vary in size from about
3mb upto 14mb in size so it's not that they are just simple java games.

I think the other phones only play cracked versions with the copy protection
removed. They're widely available as a narrowband-friendly download.
Therefore Nokia won't even make any money out of all the NGage game players
out there.
