I have a Nokia 6340i, a DLR-3P cable, and a PC running Windows XP
professional with the latest Microsoft updates. I was having a
horrible time with Windws XP's PnP insisting on the 6340i being
identified as various devices, including a Microsoft Serial Mouse!!
Eventually, I disabled Plug and Play from the motherboard BIOS,
installed the "Nokia 6340i via cable" device manually and can now
succesfully querry the resulting modem entry in device manager.
Nokia's Connection Manager, which is installed as part of the free
Nokia PC Suite 4.75 available at their web site, recognizes the phone
connected to COM1. So it would appear everything is alright.
However...
When I doubleclick on the "Nokia Phone Editor" component of the suite
( the only one I am interested in, since all I want to do is keep a
list of phone numbers synchronized between my PC and the cell phone),
the application opens for a brief time. During this brief time, I can
see the small phone icon on the lower right corner of the application,
which means the phone has been seen by the application. A second or
two after opening, "Nokia Phone Editor" closes unexpectedly, giving no
error code whatsoever. The good people at Nokia, all so courteous,
provided, as expected, no help. Does anyone have any idea as to the
reason for this bizarre behaviour?
Also, since all I want is to keep a telephone number list on my PC
synchedwitht he one on the phone, is there any other software program
alternative to this Nokia application? I tried the one offered by
Oxygen, but the only connection they allowe me to create is one using
a "DAU-9P" cable, which I do not have. Emails to their support group
have been ignored time and again.
Thanks for any help.
PS. Incidentally, other components of the suite, such as "Nkia Content
Copier" appear to work without a problem.

Re: help with 6340i PC Connectivity

Hello!
You have contacted us about the matter 3 of November and we sent you the
answer the very day. We didn't receive any answer from you back. This is the
very letter:
Hello!
Thank you for contacting us!
Did you choose DLR-3P connection type, when chosen needed COM port? That can
be done clicking once right mouse button on the connection type window.
What Operating System are you using?
Do you have any other programs to work with the phone installed on your PC?
They can break the connection.
What program version are you using?
Are you able to turn your phone on freely, when the cable is connected?
Were there anything else installed on that very COM port?
Check, please, if your port speed is set to 115200.
If you will have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
Best regards, Olga Pus'
