Well after ringing O2 Customer Care at 50p a minute only to be told that
theres nothing they can really help me with because the phone is new and
not tested on the O2 network as yet, I decided to spend an hour of my
time messing with the settings and trying till they worked - and here is
    how!

    Nokia 6600

For O2 WAP GPRS use the following settings:

    Goto Services > Bookmarks > Options > Settings > Options > Change >
Options > New Access Point > Use Default Settings

    Connection Name: O2 WAP GPRS
    Data Bearer: GPRS
    Access Point Name: payandgo.o2.co.uk
    User Name: payandgo
    Prompt Password: No
    Password:
    Authentication: Normal
    Homepage: http://wap.o2.co.uk
    Connection Security: Off
    Session Mode: Permanent

(note: The above settings are those that O2 sent me from their website.
I had to choose settings for a 7650/3650 as it was the nearest match to
my phone. The following settings are the ones I changed myself to get it
    to work...)

    Goto Options > Advanced Settings

    Phone IP Address: Automatic
    Primary Name Server: 0.0.0.0
    Second. Name Server: 0.0.0.0
    Proxy Serv. Address: 193.113.200.195
    Proxy Port Number: 80

    ---

For O2 MMS use the following settings:

    Goto Messaging > Options > Settings > Multimedia Message > Options >
Change > Options > New Access Point > Use Default Settings

    Connection Name: O2 MMS
    Data Bearer: GPRS
    Access Point Name: payandgo.o2.co.uk
    User Name: payandgo
    Prompt Password: No
    Password:
    Authentication: Normal
    Homepage: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
    Connection Security: Off
    Session Mode: Permanent

(note: The above settings are those that O2 sent me from their website.

Hope this is useful to someone.

I just phoned CPW and asked about the Nokia 6600 since i'm thinking of
getting one. The bloke on the phone said that GPRS and MMS settings
don't work on the phone properly yet, which put me off a bit because i
need the GPRS (MMS would be nice too as i'm paying for it!).

So those settings work then? CPW talk out of there arse. More like they
can't be arsed to find out the proper settings for themselves!!

    Hello mate

Well put it this way. I had a 7250 with an O2 PAYG sim in. I'd phoned
O2 months ago, got them to activate my SIM for MMS GPRS and WAP. I used
O2's online service to send me the MMS GPRS and WAP settings.

    Everything worked fine.

Then I got my 6600. Removed the O2 SIM from my 7250 and put it in my
6600. Went to the O2 website and got the settings sent to me again
(since these are stored on the phone and not on the SIM, I had to have
them resent) however this time, my 6600 wasn't listed because it was too
new. So I chose the next nearest model (either 3650 or 7650) and got the
    settings sent.

They didn't work. So that's when I played around with the settings I'd
been sent and comparing with the settings in my 7250. Its the IP section
that needed manually adding as the sent settings didn't have those
    details.

Anyway, in answer to your question - yes. Those settings do work on my
    Nokia 6600 on O2 PAYG.

    Cheers
    Chris

I used the o2 settings sent from the Nokia UK website and they work
perfectly on the 6600 for both wap and mms.

Have you got the link to that service? I couldn't find it. O2 sent them
to me from the Nokia site but the message asked for a password which I
    obviously didn't have - nice one O2!

Oh well, if those work then all the better!

Not really had a chance to play around with the ringtones as yet. Doesn't
it read tones from the memory card then?

It'll read ringtones from both the phone and the MMC, in either the Sound
Files/Tones foldesr or the Sound Files/Digital Sounds folders.

Mine will only use ringtones stored on the phone memory, not the MMC :-(
    Maybe my phone is ****ed.
