I have one pixel that switches between red and black if that pixel
    originally has a dark color.
Is this a screen error or OS error?

Do I have to return my phone? I have heard about a similar incident, but i
have seen no replies on it (other newsgroup)

    Thanks in advance!

    From the manual:

This is an intrinsic characteristic of the active matrix display. Your phone's
display contains multiple switching elements to control the pixels. A small
number of missing, discolored, or bright dots on the screen might exist
    ----
In other words: there's a lot of freaking pixels, we certainly can't guarantee
    em all.

Well, so I have to live with a misbehaving pixel, then?
This means my 6600 is faulty. I hope the garantuee can get me a non-faulty
    phone then.
I guess this pixel error is hardware-related.
It is very annoying: This blinking pixel synched with refresh rate
(possibly) is occuring on camera, pictures wallpapers, etc, most visible
when the pixel is originally dark.

It is my right to change the phone, right?

Depends the warranty policy of NOKIA. Seems TFT screens is cellular phones
is a new kid on the block, I don't know what they will say.

Based on my experience from LCD screens for computers, the manufacturer
policy varies from 1 to 7-8 pixel dead to change your monitor as faulty.

I hope the one pixel in your case isn't too little.

    My advice?
Take them by surprise! Go to the shop you bought it and demand to have a
look in it and that this is outraegeous. :-)

PS. Hope at your shop don't read this newsgroup...

    Re: Nokia 6600 pixel bug

Read the manual/waruntee. Its impossible to have a cost effective 100%
perfect LCD manurfacturing technique .. it just cant be done ..

    Most waruntee's have a minimum allowance clause .. for a laptop/desktop CLD
screen sized monitor, I believe its no more than 3 dead pixels in a certain
sized radium, and no more than 5 for the whole screen. some companies have a
better waruntee on them than others (ie, tighter tollerances), but they are
allowed to make this exclusion by law.

Nokia will have one too, probably published on theyr website too. I'd say on
a 128x128 screen, 1 pixel would be within theyr tollerances, and becomes a
    "live with it" situation.

2 dead pixels on a screen that size would probably warant replacement ..
check the fine print and see!
