    Hi guys!

I'm just wondering what on earth Nokia was thinking when they released
the 3300 with different keyboards in the US (full QWERTY keyboard) and
in Europe (Joypad & Numeric keyboard)? Because the full keyboard was
the only thing that distinguished the 3300 from the N-Gage! The N-Gage
has an MP3 player and Bluetooth too, the same joypad controls, it can
play the same Java games as the 3300, plus the special N-Gage games,
and it is currently sold at the same price (with a two-year contract).
Plus, it has a more advanced user interface (Higher display
resolution, Series-60 instead of Series-40) etc. So who is going to
buy the 3300 when they can buy the N-Gage instead? Nobody! If you want
a phone with an MP3 player, you can get a much smaller one with the
upcoming 6230, and if you want a phone for playing games, you get the
N-Gage. I am currently looking for a replacement for my good old 5510
(the "looks weird, sounds great" one - I know this phone wasn't a big
success, but I like it nevertheless) and the 3300 would have been
perfect with a full keyboard, but without it it's worthless.

Question: Is there any way to get an American 3300 in Europe?
Specifically, in Germany? Or can you turn an European model into a US
model using a US cover? (It is after all possible that the underlying
keyboard matrix is the same and that the European keyboard only uses
some of the contacts - however, this probably also involves a firmware
update) Or, best of all, will Nokia finally see the light and release
the full keyboard model in Europe too?

    Thanks in advance,
    Robert

My 15 year old son chose the 3300 over the N-gage because although he does
like to play games it was primarily the MP3 side that made his mind up.
Friends with N-gages have expressed that they prefer the look of the 3300 to
    the N-gage.

    Hi Ivor!

*lol* Of course I use the phone to talk to people too (once in a
while), but if you carry a phone and an MP3 player with you all the
time anyway, it's better to have them both in one device. And once
you've had a phone with a full keyboard, you don't want to go back to
that crappy T9 dictionary again (I don't know about the English
dictionary, but the German one still turns "frohe" into "droge"
("merry" as in "Merry Christmas" -> "drug"))
