I know, I know. this is a Nokia group. But there's a wealth of knowledge here,
and there isn't a Samsung group anyway...
anyway, my wife has a SGH-E700 and recently spilled iced tea on it...
One of these:

So I opened it up, dried it out the best I could and tried it.
It works perfectly but for one strange symptom, the ringtones and alerts all
sound speeded up. Very bizarre. Like they're being played at twice the speed.
Could it be besically ok and need some reset which isn't available via the menu?
Any advice appreciated, there isn't a Samsung service centre anywhere round
here.
