Yes, this was some kind of Vision plan for $15.mo with internet thrown
in. It is unlimited sending of pictures AND internet service. I
asked about the 39¢/min. and he said this was a thing of the
    past...this is unlimited.

The vision phone can be connected to a PC. I have even found a 3rd
party data cable for this that plugs into the USB port. Sprint told me
all that is needed is a data cable.
He had mentioned the use of the phone as a modem like it was some big
    deal.

Thanks for the warning on this. Sprint wants you to agree to all
these changes and a 2 yr. contract over the phone and not being able
to see in print what you are agreeing to.

    You're not paying attention, Gus.

The Vision plans are *only* for viewing and communicating using
    your phone.

If you want to use your phone as a modem, or use a data card, you'll
have to pay an additional fee. (Some have used their phones as modems...
It seems to be based on the quantity of data downloaded/uploaded as to
whether these people have been "caught" and charged any fees.)

Sprint used to (and they may still) offer an unlimited data plan for
    $100/month.

To follow up, some of us have plugged into our laptops to get email or do
very limited surfing while on the road, and without charges. At least, I
haven't been hit with changes yet, but again, I've been on line through my
    phone on a limited basis.

Some people have mentioned being charged a small amount, and some ... like
    yours truly, haven't.

Long story short, you can do it, but this $15 is for cruising on the phone,
not to replace your current ISP.

The 39=A2/min charge was because they dialed into a modem=20
line just like dialing into another number for a voice=20
call. The system (and the phone) recognized the data=20
nature of the call, and assigned it accordingly. It became=20
    a "Circuit-Switched Data" call. For all practical=20
purposes, that's Wireless Web. However, since it doesn't=20
use the servers that normally control *real* Wireless Web=20
(the branded 2G data service we call by that name), it gets=20
    charged as casual usage.

Sorry to let this go on so long, Bob. If a Vision phone is=20
used like an *actual* modem, like dialing into a company=20
modem pool, or into AOL's dial-up lines, then it will get=20
charged 39=A2/min, just as if it were casual Wireless Web=20
    usage.

And calling *2 about the charges will not necessarily get the charges
removed. If the company determines that the phone was actually used as
a modem, the charges can be considered accurate. Typically not worth
    the risk.

Thanks for the follow up Rob. I can see that now. I didn't remember (and
still don't) that the person who was charged $0.39/min. had dialed his
Vision phone to a local ISP. I was under the impression that there was only
one or two Vision phones that had that capability in their firmware.

    Hmm... risk? I can't say for sure, but I don't *think*=20
there's a risk in calling. If I were to see that kind of=20
usage, and the user admitted to modem-style usage of the=20
phone, I wouldn't refund the charges, but neither do I=20
think the caller would be worse off for asking. This kind=20
of usage doesn't show up in analysis of network activity. =20
As a result, it won't get your Vision service package=20
    removed, like "#777" usage might.
