I talked to Sprint and was told we can get unlimited internet for $15
and the internet time does not go against your total minutes.
This is a deal if it is true and works faster than 33kbs.
This would allow us to drop home phone service all together resulting
is a giant savings.
Is Sprint internet run on a PC worth considering?

Re: Unlimited internet for $15 - can I drop my home ISP
Either:
+ You misunderstood
+ Asked the wrong question
+ were misinformed
$15/month is for unlimited Internet via Vision on your cell phone. It is not
supposed to be for PC use,
although folks have figured out ways to do that, but bad things may then happen
with any significant use.
+ They charge you per byte downloaded
+ They count the minutes against your account
+ The cancel your Vision internet
To use the SprintPCS wireless network with a PC, they want you to buy a "PC
data Card" and pay significantly higher amounts.
Per Month download allowance
20MB= $40
40MB = $60
70MB = $80
300MB =$100
I suspect using a cell phone as a modem generates too many support calls to be
profitable at a price point anyone would be willing to pay. SprintPCS does not
now support using your cell phone as a modem.

Phillipe ... now why would you include "They count the minutes against your
account". The original poster was talking about Vision, and not WW ...
Minutes used only applies to WW, and not Vision ...

The poster was also talking about using his cell phone as his ISP for internet
access from his PC, something only allowed under WW

He was quoting the $15 fee, which is the Vision charge. What's more, he did
not say he had a pre-3G phone, which is the only way to qualify for WW ...
Now ... to answer Gus's original question, it is possible to hook up your
phone to your laptop, and do some occasional usage, via Vision, however,
it's not to be used to replace your current ISP.

What is your understanding of what will happen if he goes ahead as he plans,
and SprintPCS decides he's abusing the system?

As has been mentioned here by others, first a warning from SPCS ... and then
the Vision option is removed if they notice continued use after the warning
....

I remember that, but I don't remember whether that user had the Vision
option on his account either ...

Re: Unlimited internet for $15 - can I drop my home ISP
A lot of cases back in January 2003. Some got 39 cents a minute, some got .002
per K; many posted later that calling *2 got those charges removed.
Thats why I listed minutes as a possibility. Maybe they wouldnt do that now.

You fully know that those $0.39/min. charges were for 2G phones & no WW
option on the account, so why do you bring that up? The issue was on Vision
usage.

was charged $15 for 40 minutes of "data". "

Where in this quote does it say that it was WW data, and not Vision data, or
how much data was downloaded ... ?
