So it's okay to be dishonest then?
Or does this followup bear no relation whatsoever to my comments?
I was pointing out that it's dishonest to call Retention when you have no
intention of cancelling.

You're probably right, Steve. A big one. I'm always=20

You can't if you don't ask. You may be pleasantly surprised. I got far more
than several SprintPCS employees said was possible.

It's called negociating. I suppose you tell your car dealer your definitely
buying a car from him before you negociate the price? Or do you just insist on
paying sticker price all the time?

Sprint's cancellation department is the same as their retention department.
I don't have a problem with calling this department to see what they can do to
retain me as a happy customer.

Nor do I. Phillipe, however, has called at least a couple times because he
just wants a cheaper deal, not because he wants to cancel.
If you are calling because you are actually planning on cancelling, that's
one thing. Calling because you are trying to be cheap, and then pretending
you're going to cancel, is not cool, but maybe I just feel that way because
I don't lie to people...

Face it- Phil will never see the utter disregard for other people he shows
by touting this. He's probably the type that purposely goes out of his way
to bend the rules in his favor every chance he gets, not realizing that he
penalizes himself and others by his behavior. The next time there's a rate
increase at PCS, part of it can be blamed on this hustle that he is so
adament about sharing. They're going to make up the loss in margin
somewhere else, and that means higher rates. Its just the same as
shoplifting- people steal, and prices are marked up to make up for the
loss.

Trust me on this (I'm currently in a class-action lawsuit against
Verizon, carried over from CellOne).
In most states (Ohio for example), the ONLY legal method of
verification is the original printed contract signed by you. I hope you
still have that piece of paper. With that piece of paper, you can prove
the website mistake.

There is no original piece of paper, but the July Bill shows when the
billing plan changed. The Web site Sunday showed the correct date.
The web site now doesn't.
I wrote them declaring the contract void.

Thank you. Sobol has still not said if he goes into a car dealer and insists on
paying Sticker price when he buys a car.
P.S. It's 1-866-762-0468 according to
http://www.sprintpcsinfo.com
Meanwhile when last I called I (truthly) told them I was about to go to Verizon
as my son had Verizon
and with V to V minutes I'd save. Is it my fault I got a plan, credits and
discounts enough to make some disbelievers?
Nothing dishonest there. Just dishonest ranting from Sobol.

Why do you lie Sobol? I NEVER said that, although if SprintPCS wants to give
people deals, I see no reason why someone shouldn't accept it. They need to
have an honest open and transparent retention policy, and then there wouldn't
be an issue.

Re: SprintPCS invalidates contracts. GET OUT OF SPRINTPCS free
Shoplifting, Hardly. Do you pay full Sticker price when you buy a car? Do you
insist on doing so?
If you get a discount off sticker, others will have to pay more, as the Dealer
needs to make an average markup from all sales. Is Fortune magazine shoplifting
when they publish articles on how to negociate with a car dealer? It's zero
different than the retention FAQ.
A solution? As I've said from the start, none of this would be a problem, and
you and I wouldn't be disagreeing if SprintPCS had an open, nonsecret and
transparent retention policy. They don't, it's secret, and I only shed light on
it, similar to Fortune discussing buying a car. Or do you insist on paying
Sticker price, and announce that when you walk into the dealer?
Car Dealers offer secret deals, SprintPCS offers secret deals, not a whit of
difference.

Big companies treat customers in the same way. They lay advertising snares
that unwary customers fall into. Utilizing your ability to cancel to get a
better deal is not only acceptable, but your duty to yourself to properly
handle your money and get the best value for it that you can. Companies are
inhuman entities (with humans running them) that have only one goal, and
that is to make money, with the exception of not-for-profit organizations.
These very same companies will lay off hard working American workers because
it is cheaper (maybe even by only 5%) to use off-shore workers or ever to
use on-shore resident aliens [in violation of the intent of H1B visas to
name one particular case]. The moral judgement made [above] about the
threat of cancellation as a leverage to a better deal is hollow.

I am sure they will either respond that it is in effect and you are free to
terminate early for a value added fee of $150 or to remain a customer per
your contract. Writing the letter does not simply nulify your contract. It
will take mutual agreement or a judge to force that issue.
