    Hi All,

I'm currently evaluating whether Verizon or Sprint PCS is better in
Kansas City. Anyone care to share any experiences with their respective
service? I'm mainly interested in coverage south kc and and the
    southern missouri/ks suburbs.

    Thanks,

    Michael

Go Verizon, definitely. Having used both quite a bit in KC, I can say
that Verizon definitley has the better network there. You wouldn't
think so with the Sprint campus being a stroll down the road in
Overland Park, but they definitely lose. If you do go with Sprint,
just be sure to get Free and Clear America along with your plan, for
all the roaming you will need.

I currently have Verizon, but have a terrible time in two or three areas
    - on 7 Highway South between Harrisonville and Clinton and then several
places in and around Pleasant Hill. I work in Lee's Summit with no
problems and really haven't had any problems in the major portion of
    Kansas City.

    Hello Michael,

I live in Johnson County and commute to KC MO. I have Sprint and found
a few areas around I435 (just south of Midland DR on the west side) to
consistently drop calls. Also, I've heard from some friends who work
at the Sprint campus that there are some dead zones around there...
I have never had a problem with customer service, but I have heard
    some horror stories from co-workers.

    Hope this helps.

Amusing. Sprint's corporate headquarters are in Overland Park KS, a suburb
almost right on the KC border.

I have to assume they made sure coverage in Overland Park was good. Where
are the holes? (Just out of curiosity...)

A couple of well-known dead spots for Sprint are the north end of Downtown
around the River Market neighborhood and southern Overland Park, especially
    around the Sprint Campus itself.

Otherwise coverage is generally good within in the metro area itself. Once
you get out towards the rural areas Sprint only has coverage along the major
highways. For example, outside of Jackson County you would be OK if you
were within 3-4 miles of I-70, 50 Hwy, 71 Hwy, etc. - but if you get much
further away then you might switch to roaming. I haven't found any place in
Western Missouri where you can't at least get a roaming signal.

Works fine in Town Center Plaza (to the east of the Sprint campus) and
at the Overland Park Trade Center (west of the Sprint campus).

Overland Park doesn't like to grant permission to build towers. The
giant clock at the center of the Sprint campus hides a tower.
