I'm just curious to see if anyone has switched carriers while keeping
their number, and what problems were encountered, if any.

I saw some people in the Sprint store getting their numbers switched
over from T-Mobile while I was in there getting my VM4500 activated.
Apparently, the switchover process isn't even close to the 4 hour mark
that Verizon and other are claiming. T Mobile at least seems to be
dragging their feet, as those people were quoted the the port would take
effect sometime this SUNDAY (that was on Nov. 24). In the meantime,
both their old T Mobile and and the new Sprint phones would be able to
make outgoing calls, and there might be a period on Saturday where BOTH
phones would ring on incoming calls.

So, this definitely might not be an instant gratification thing in some
cases.
