I have a Samsung A500 which has SW WD29 and PRL 10020. Is there a later
PRL for this phone? If yes, what is the main difference between the 2
    versions? Thanks.

I'm not sure of the difference(s), but the latest PRL is 10021.

The PRL has nothing to do with the type of phone. All phones have the same
PRL available, the latest of which is 10021. There are significant changes
in many markets that allows the phone to roam digitally rather than analog,
so if you intend to roam (or use F&CA), it is likely worth it to you to ask
customer service to flag your account for a PRL update.

Thanks. I just got my phone updated by Sprint PCS store and that's what
they put on my phone (10020). I wonder that the PRL version is based on
    the region/city.

Thanks for the clarification. I don't plan to roam a lot; so I think
    that it's OK for now.

Same thing happened to me. I posted to this group but never
got a definitive answer. Two phones got OTA PRL updates
on the same day. One got 20, one got 21. Makes no sense.

That happened with yours truly also. Two out my three phones got 10021 and
the other 10020. When I noticed that, I just called back, told them what
happened, they re-flagged the phone number. 15 minutes later I called *2,
got the correct 10021 PRL loaded up on the phone.

Call *2 and have your account flagged for a PRL upgrade, then call back and
let the system do it over the air. The A500 is "tri-mode" (in other words
CDMA 800 enabled) and 10021 adds significant digital roaming (a *lot* of
Verizon and Alltel) capability. For instance, on my former 8100, on PRL
10019, I roamed on ATTWS analog in Minneapolis (in the rare instance it went
into roam). On PRL 10020, they switched the preferred roam partner here to
Verizon, but it remained analog roam. Under 10021 on my 8100 and
subsequently on my a620, I get Verizon digital roam. Your area may vary, but
anecdotal reports suggest 10021 added digital roam in many markets (areas of
Colorado, Washington, and Michigan are ones that I have heard about).
Obviously, in most cases, if you can get digital roam, you would want it for
the better battery life. Since your phone can utilize CDMA 800, I suggest
trying to get the phone up to 10021.

    Regards,

    - Jon

    Re: Latest PRL for A500

    Two ways I have used:

    1. Activate your phone's Debug screen and look at the SID you are picking
up, then compare it to one of the decoded PRL's out there (even a Verizon
PRL or some such) and you can usually determine who's it is from that.

    2. Call 611 and see who picks up. Typically calling 611 will get the roaming
    partner's CC, not SPCS'.

    Good luck!
