Help! Advice Needed

I have been a SPCS customer in San Antonio for 4 years. I am
currently in a 2 year agreement which ends on 2/18/04, according to
the website. I have 2 phones: LG5350 and Samsung 8500. My current
plan is:

500 Anytime Shared Minutes
Unlimited Nights and Weekends 9pm-7am
Unlimited PCS to PCS on both phones
Equipment replacement on both phones
Roadside rescue
No Vision at this time
Approx. $100/month

My wife and I are wanting to both upgrade to the Sanyo VM4500/5500 RL
phones so that we can use the RL, Camera, and Video. Is there any way
that I can get a deal from Sprint so that I do not have to pay full
price on both of these phones? I have contemplated contacting
retention with the threat of switching to Verizon, but I am not sure
if that will work. I want to stay with SPCS if possible, as I have
been very happy with their service. I will pay full price for them if
I have to, but with accessories and such, it will cost me nearly $900.
Can any of you please advise me as to what I should do?

Thanks for all your help.

Re: Help! Advice Needed

I can only tell you what worked for me. I went to the local SPCS
Store. Asked about the phone. He said no. Pay full price. The price
was for new activations. I said OK. Please activate the phone as a new
line for me and I'll cancel the other. He looked at me for a moment, I
guess to see if I was serious, then said it was simpler to give me the
phone at the cheaper price. But, I was NOT threatening to change #'s
to get the new phone. Me account shows I have done this twice before
and so I guess this made him a believer rather than one of those
people who just threaten to do something.

If you have had your current phones for 18 months, then you can get the
new phones at the promotional price through the handset upgrade program.
You mentioned a Samsung 8500. Seeing as it's been ages since I've
seen of those, I bet it'll qualify.

You will have to extend your contract though.

The 18 month upgrade is about all you would have. Retentions used to give
out phones, but now they are few & far between. Usually the most you will
get out of them is a plan, or maybe a months worth of service.

The store managers still have some leeway in negoctiating contract
extensions. Try visiting a SprintPCS store, and speak to the manager.
