If the phone works anything like my Samsung A500, it will actually display
the words "Digital Roam" or "Analog Roam" towards the bottom of the screen.

Why are you making that assumption? You haven't even attempted to roam yet.

Covered, yes! Free roaming, no!

Maybe picking nits here, but you'll find that there's actually a number
of F&C America affiliate market plans. Some offer as few as 30 minutes.

Re: Question regarding roaming
I must be looking at the old off-network option... Strange they would
still offer it.... Can't see any reason why it would be useful when
compared to the F&ca options..... Weird thing is that I know someone on
an F&ca plan that was paying $55 for 500 min... Seemed inflated to me.
We have native spcs coverage here in Northeast Ohio. I didn't think I
was in an affiliate market.

Is that Columbus? It should be native SPCS coverage. Back when SPCS first
offered this F&CA option, they were charging $10/mo. That's how much I was
being charged ... way back when. SPCS dropped the price to $5 and I called
SPCS and got my $10 charge reduced to $5.
Tell your friend ... and tell him he owes you a couple of beers ... .

You're not.

No, Columbus is Central Ohio. Akron is part of the Cleveland/Akron/
Canton/Ashtabula, Ohio cellular market.
And it is a corporate market. There are a number of Sprint-owned Sprint
Stores like the one I used to go to near my former home.
