Sanyo 8100 Charger (5V DC)

If you notice on your 8100, we have an alternate charger jack (called
a "Standard Charger" jack in the manual). The manual states we can
find this charger from your local SprintPCS store. Well, I went to the
Sprint store and could not find any charger to accomodate the small
plug - only the regular 1" wide accessory chargers. I asked a rep and
said I may have better luck finding one online. Guess what, nothing
online either.

The reason I'm so desperately seeking this charger is because I often
have my cell phone plugged into my laptop which, of course, uses the
accessory charger port and therefore my Internet usage is restricted
to the battery life of the phone.

Could anyone point me in the right direction? TIA

This is exactly what you need.

I bought one for my 4900 from this guy and it works great! Uses same driver
as non-charging cable. So it's ready to use. Donna B

I have not seen such a charger anywhere, but I have a suggestion and
an observation which may be helpful.

Suggestion: several sources on ebay sell a charging USB data cable,
which allegedly works as a charger and a data cable at the same time.
They're not expensive, and I'm considering getting one myself.

Observation: Samsung A620 and A460 models and Sanyo 8100's sold at
CostCo come with free accessories, including the very same, identical
car chargers. The car charger fits the standard jack in the Sanyo
phone. The Samsung standard charger fits also fits this jack on my
Sanyo phone, but I'm chicken to plug it into the wall to see if it
works. Might be a lead worth pursuing, I don't know.

Re: Sanyo 8100 Charger (5V DC)

Well all 3 Sprint PCS stores in San Francisco have lots of those
chargers on display in the store, both the home model (120vac) and the
car model (12vdc). I bought a home model. The card in the package calls
it "Travel Charger" "for use with PCS phone using a Standardized
Charging Connector". The back of the card has a part number SPSUCH002.
It has fold-up AC prongs, just like the Sanyo charger.

Besides the Sprint PCS store, you can order these from the SPCS
Accessory Hotline 800-974-2221

And you can order the Samsung charger from www.samsung.usa for $19.99.
It's part number TAD077JBEB/STD or just TAD077JBE. I have the ones from
my Samsung A460 and A620, and they work fine on the Sanyo 8100.
