and at a cost of $300 Million SprintPCS admits ot can't fix its billing
System.
"Sprint also announced that it expects to record an asset impairment
charge in the fourth quarter as a result of the company's decision to
revise its strategy for PCS billing platform development. "
SprintPCS has scrapped a project to build an in-house billing system and
is taking a $300 million Tax write off on the project. Instead of
developing a billing system with Amdocs Ltd. Sprint said it would extend
and expand a contract with Convergys Corp. which was expected to be
phased out. That Amdocs project was also supposed to be part of
integrating SprintPCS wireline back into Sprint next year.
It will make it easier to sell off SprintPCS if they keep the billing
separate. SprintPCS further said "it is still likely to combine its
wireless and its wireline tracking stocks, but not before Feb. 4", a lot
weaker statement than previous. Again leading one to think Wireless
might be sold off.
Sprint now says it will report a loss greater than the 43 cents a share
for its PCS group for the year. Last quarter it lost 7 cents.
Sprint further is backing off the spin some SprintPCS employees
previously were giving about gaining customers from WLNP, now saying
that its about equal.

No Phillipe, but you have a highly irrational, emotional stake in PCS
for some reason.
Thanks for posting the link though. Without your spin, anyone can
clearly see that results will still fall on the favorable end of
Sprint's earlier estimates, and the real loser in the deal is Amdocs,
whose stock is plunging because they lost the deal.

Favorable end of losing over 43 cents a share? How is that good?
And how come the idiot that cost SprintPCS $300 million on a failed
billing program upgrade hasn't been fired yet.

It wasn't an upgrade- they were exploring a whole new system. That costs
money. You aren't very smart, are you?

Since you clearly don't have either the steady income (being unemployed)
or intelligence (being a troll) to invest money, I won't bother to
dignify dignify this with a response. I will however, point out that
you've bashed Sprint PCS for having a 2.7 percent churn rate a year ago,
then moved over to ATTWS, which currently has a churn rate of... what
luck... 2.7 percent for the most recent quarter.

I imagine it's the same reason that ATTWS hasn't fired the idiots who
had the company pick Neustar and Siebel for the WLNP and GSM billing
software, respectively.

Except thats a per month rate, reported quarterly equals 33 percent per
year.
Thats why SprintPCS is losing money.
Meanwhile its reported there may be a slight decrease in loses this
quarter. Know why? Cause SprintPCS is adding fewer new customers, and
when it subsidizes new customers at $340 per, it saves money by not
adding customers.

Just like AT&T's, "Carlos".

Wow, imagine the odds of first-time poster "Carlos" coming to the
defense of the recent NG member "Johnathan"...
How many ID's for Phillipe is that now? Has he hit 50 yet?

Nope, I had 48s ID listed for him, but just removed one of them from the
list, so he's up to 47 now ...

Proving once again, Phillipe, that you STILL can't do math, AND you
can't read. I said it was AT&T WIRELESS that reported the 2.7% churn
rate, Phillipe. So by your math (which fortunately for AT&T, is
flawed), your new wireless carrier would be the one with the 33% per
year churn rate.
> Thats why SprintPCS is losing money.
How does AT&T Wireless' churn rate affect Sprint PCS' performance?

Oh nice, another uninformed Phillip alias!

Sprint's losing money because ATT has 2.7% churn? They must have added a
new chapter to the Troll Economics book.

Wrong- the $340 you mention is a Customer Acquisition Cost, not a Subsidy
cost. This figure takes all expenses related to getting a customer on board
into consideration- Advertising, Sales, Activations and phone subsidies, to
name a few. Please learn to use the proper terms.
