    Hello All,

Is there a way to Activate a Sprint PCS from the sprintpcs.com
website. I know of activate.sprintpcs.com but that only works for
existing Sprint user (like for adding a new phone to the same number).
What about a 'new user' to sprint?

I did call up the activation toll free number (1-888-715-4588) & they
suggest that we should go to the nearest corporate sprint store as
they can't activate through phone, now the sprint store nearest to my
    location is about 100 miles.

If only online activation works then i save some time on that

In the sprintpcs manual it suggests going on to activate.sprintpcs.com
but that is ONLY for existing customers.
As i recall corretly, sometime back activate.sprintpcs.com had the
option of giving in ESN number directly & the other phone information
to activate for a 'new user'

    now it has changed

any other ways to activate a new sprint phone & a new user without
going to a sprint store? or calling some other numbers?

    any suggestions

    thanks

p.s: If nothing, then I guess will have to go to spring store

    Talk to Ski/Geroge.

Apparently, the two of you are on the same medications.

Call them at the above telephone number (on a landline) or to their regular
    CS number 888-211-4727 tomorrow morning.

Thanks, tried the number, CS suggested to go to a sprint store,

did that - now the phone is activated. At the store they said that
they needed to verfiy whether I was the same guy (which is weird!) -
they needed the photo ID - guess that's why online/or phone
    activations were not working

is this a normal procedure? I guess it should otherwise how can sprint
verify a new customer on Phone or online?

Well Larry, checked the your george/ski post - Calling them does not
work all the time, they need to verify the new user by checking the
photo ID, it happened with me yesterday - I finally had to go to the
sprint store. anyhow the phone is active now

    thanks

This is a result of our wonderful Patroit Act, all new accounts must
be verified with picture ID. Current customers are not affected since
they are not covered by the Patroit Act- the assumption is that we
    have already been identified.

Interesting, although I'm not quite clear as to how limiting cell
phone activation will help to improve our national security!

Explain to me again what the Patriot Act has to do with activating a
    cellphone?

    the case.........get real !

I just looked, and see no reference to this in the Patriot Act. It is
probably more of an effort by Sprint to cut down on identity theft and
    subscriber fraud.
