    Re: SMS Brochures

    Rob,

I was correcetd on the RL2000 and RL2500 on HowardForums.com, too. I had
read that they were 2-way compatible, but I confirmed for myself,
hands-on, that they are not. The 3585i, however, does have the software
and menu features for sending messages. Whether it will be officially
supported is another story, though the phone certainly has that capability
    enabled.

Yes, one-way messages appear to be billed, as the pricing on the brochures
states that messages are billed the same whether sent or received...

I have my issues with that one.

This is gonna be interesting to say the least, because if they start billing
for incoming text, they're gonna have to put a spam filtering system in
    place.

(they always were telling vision customers incoming text msgs were free...)

True enough. I think there's been speculation on that phone ever since=20
we released it. But the list of enabled phones we've been given in tech=20
    support excludes it.

Finalize any changes you may be considering for Vision/RL by 2/3/04. =20
I'm not sure I'm allowed to reveal why, so I ask your trust. Make sure=20
Vision and/or Ready Link are as you want them (in terms of billing=20

Will there be a firmware update for the RL2500? After all it is
basically the same phone as the VM4500 , minus the vid/camera.

Considering the semi-official stuff I've been given has stated that no
handset will be upgradable to 2-way SMS, my best guess is... no.
