Why is it that we don't get the phone numbers of the incoming calls on our
    bills?
We get the phone number on our caller id's.

    Just wondering,

And the most weird thing is that when I call my friend's Virgin Mobile
phone, which uses Sprint PCS network, my phone number is displayed on
his online bill even though I have Caller ID blocked on my phone. --Gus

If you want this, you will need to switch to "Detailed Billing".

Not sure if it costs extra or not as I have had it for forever.
Some carriers charge extra for this. ( Paper, printing, postage, etc. )

A little secret of 'caller ID blocking'.....

    - Caller ID is blocked on the CALL,

    - However the person paying the BILL gets the number on the bill
    irregardless of the block!

This is true for CELLULAR as well are '800 Service' on wire lines!.

I hope that SPRINT will switch to showing incoming call numbers on the bill.

Is this a seperate option? I've had a full (avg. 40-page) paper bill
since I started with 'em in Feb. '98 .

Re: Incomming calls on phone bill

Well, I just check and I have my statement setup for detailed, but I don't
    get the incoming numbers.
I called CS to ask why and they said that there are FCC rules against
incoming numbers being on the cellphone bill.

    How accurate is this?
Can anyone find the FCC rules?

    Thanks,
    Bryce

On my wife's Verizon Wireless online account history, phone

Oops, Just checked and no. Detailed billing only for outgoing it seems.
Sorry for the bad info. I checked my Verizon account and they don't seem to
    do it either.
T-Mobile however, lists all their incoming calls. Weird.

I've never heard of such a rule

Really? I'll have to go check online. I have a Sprint account and a Verizon
account, and I know neither shows incoming calls on the bill, but I don't
check my Verizon statements online often.

Stupid is more like it. Owners of toll-free numbers pay for the calls and
do get incoming numbers even when the callers CID is blocked. The same should
be true of cell users that also pay for incoming calls. I've said this often
    on alt.cellular.verizon...

Verizon prepay accounts still show the incoming numbers on the website.

Re: Incomming calls on phone bill

It's probably more of a "Billing system" laziness issue than anything else.
I don't remember anything about FCC directive.

The only FCC directive I remember is listing cell number(s) in the phone
book or any other public info source.
Same laws apply fax machine spam, blah blah.
Then again, I ain't a lawyer and definitely don't know all of the FCC laws
    either.
More then likely, some CS rep who tossed an answer out there in hopes of you
buying the answer and going away.
