Dear all:
I would like to send my loved ones text messages. However, it
takes extraoridinarily long to get to typing out my message. I was
hoping there is maybe some place I can go on-line where the site would
help me send text messages. I am more than willing to pay the $0.10
per message.
If there isn't such a site, could one of you techies go invent
one? Barring that, is there any other suggestions?
sincerely. Dr. Moser.

If your loved ones have SPCS as their service, you can TM from SPCS's site -
messaging.sprintpcs.com .

There are several websites and pieces of shareware to do it with, A quick
search came up with this site:
http://www.textmefree.com/US_Only/
It lists a few options. The highest rated one with a rating of 9.15 out of
10 is:
http://www.textmefree.com/cgi-bin/sms/jump.cgi?ID=436
In the summary for that site it states you can use their website or download
some software to do it from your computer.

Re: Is there some way to send text message faster? Like maybe by computer?
You can easily send SMS messages to mobile phones using your computer. You
can send unlimited messages to any US and Canada number by sending an email
to: example [email protected] ([email protected])
You won't get charged anything but the recipient may get changed the
regular fee to receive an SMS.
There's no cost for the service. I used it all the time. Test it on you
own phone.

Why use another provider when you can sent it directly to the phone at

You can send a limited number of messages free at http://sms.ac but
another solution for you would be to use something like logomanager
where you can compose messages in the logomanager program and send
them through your phone with a cable or IR. This is only for Nokia
phones though.

Is it just me, or setting aside the comment about paying for messages, does this
sound like a spammer looking for ways to flood cell phones?

Re: Is there some way to send text message faster? Like maybe by computer?
Because using messaging.sprintpcs.com, you can only send to sprint phones.
using teleflip.com you can send to any phone without having to worry what
mobile provider the recipient is on.
I really don't care what service my friends are using. I just want to
easily sms them.

What a great way to collect cell numbers of people who have txt enabled cell
service. And if you read their TOS and Privacy policy, it states they can do
whatever they like with the data they collect.
No thanks...

Re: Is there some way to send text message faster? Like maybe by computer?
My question is the opposite: as I don't have a loved one to send me SMs, is
there a way to turn this feature off in wake of the spam problem?

Re: Is there some way to send text message faster? Like maybe by computer?
Yes, you can turn off. Just call Cingular customer care and tell them to
remove the feature from you service. But I suggest you turn off only if you
get spam -- chances are no. You may need that feature from time to time.

Re: Is there some way to send text message faster? Like maybe by computer?
Hi Clark,
Spammers don't need you to use the service before they spam you. Spamming
is very easy if they want to. They simply need a program to email to every
possible telephone number at every service provider. There's no cost to
send junk mail.
The real reason that spammers have not targeted mobile phones is because it
costs the recipients to receive and would make people very angry and
illegal. I believe there's some law that says you can't send advertising
if it costs money to receive. That's why advertisers still send you junk
mail by post.

Re: Is there some way to send text message faster? Like maybe by computer?
I was puzzled on your reply, then realized that the original post was cross
posted to a number of NGs. As SprintPCS customers, we do get spam from the
SMS!

Do you know that the people who run the service collect this data or
are you just paranoid?
