I have a Sanyo 4500 that has worked fine for years. I am a heavy user
of text notifications. What I mean by this is: My server monitoring
software sends an e-mail to [email protected], and my
phone then displays the message in its "Messages - Page/Text" menu.

Roughly a month ago, this stopped working. It had been quite reliable
up to that point. Now, if I send a message to the same address, it is
accepted by Sprint's mail server but never appears on my phone.

Does anyone know of any changes at Sprint that would have caused this,
or have any suggestions of what I should tell the Sprint CSR? They
seem to have a great deal of difficulty understanding the difference
between one-way text notifications, two-way text messaging, and
    wireless web messaging.

Thanks in advance for any advice...

    -Graham

That address still works for me.
Login to the website and check your account settings out.

    Maybe something there.

I just tested mine too. It works. Have you tried sending yourself an
email to your phone? Or, setting up your server to send test emails at
    different intervals?

I have had automated emails delayed in the past from the sprint
servers - and on some servers at work which batch them out at
    different intervals too.

If you search this newsgroup you'll find several instances where
sprint has taken their servers (text messaging and others too) offline
for maintenance without notice and without redundant servers online.

An interesting point that this group may not know - Cingular DOES HAVE
redundant servers for its text messaging system. Many technical people
in my company have given up their pagers and subscribe to cingular for
that very reason. They have yet to lose a text message (page from a
    server).

I was thinking of switching, but I have just purchased a new phone -
got the rebate because I re-upped for two years on my retention
    deal...

Good luck - let us know how you make out.

    Best Regards,

    Ian
