While SprintPCS is not selling the Motorola v60 it IS now selling the
Sanyo RL7300, which seems to have an almost identical feature set as the
RL2500, but is sold with out a $150 rebate, Instant or Mail in.

Sanyo on its web site has gotten more honest aboutr battery life with
    the following caveat:

" Battery performance estimates reflect tested CDMA usage with Ready
Link disabled. Actual results may vary."

The Sanyo website says it has SMS, the SprintPCS website says zero about
that in its description of the RL7300

As I had long suspected, such seems to indicate that Ready Link
handsets are allowed to utilize a slot cycle index setting of 1, while
non-PTT handsets have long been forced by the Sprint PCS network to
conform to a slot cycle index of 2.

In slotted mode, handsets using a slot cycle index of 1 will monitor
the paging channel every 2.56 sec; handsets using an index of 2 will
monitor the paging channel half as often, every 5.12 sec. Ostensibly,
the shorter slotted cycle is desired for up to a 50% reduction in
Ready Link setup latency at the consequential expense of standby
    battery life.

For reference purposes, slot period is defined by the following
equation: 1.28*2^i sec (where "i" indicates the 0-7 slot cycle index).
