Sanyo 4500

Looking at the Sanyo 4500 for my dad and would like to know if you can
do internet surfing with a data cable connected. Sanyo's accessory
website is unclear. Says it has a USB data cable but only mentions
use with software to do address book and that it will power charge the
phone. Anyone have success with data? How do you do it? Thanks for
any help.

Yes, you can use it to surf the web. The 4500 is a 2G phone and utilizes
SPCS's Wireless Web to connect to the web. It is an older protocol than what
SPCS currently offers on their new 3G phones & with Vision. If you have the
WW web option on your plan, it will cost you minutes off your plan. If you
don't have WW on your plan, it will cost you $0.39/min.

As for cables and syncing, you should check with futuredial.com to see what
they can support for that phone model.

Bob,

Which of the current Sprint phones do support 3G (or Vision) for access
to the internet AND also provide outstanding reception like the 4500?

Frank, any of the phones sold by SPCS on their website, save for the Nokia,
which is not Vision capable. I'm preferable to Sanyos myself. I have the
5300, which is now a discontinued model.

Bob, Thanks for the response.

I also have a 5300 left over from Sprint service last year. But I was
hoping for a little better RF performance in the Sanyo 4500 on the
website. Do you know if the 5300 accessories are compatible with the
4500?

Nope, sorry to tell you that they (Sanyo 4500) aren't. As to accessories,
most of the new Sanyo cell phones all use the same USB cable and ports for
the hands free device. Batteries would be different.
