    Hi all,

I am sure many of you are aware of the overage charges that can
accumulate monthly as we each exceed our alotted minutes with PCS.
Over the past couple of years, I have developed a website to help us
all manage our minutes and hopefully save us all (as a PCS user
community) lots of money that we would otherwise be reluctantly
    handing over to Sprint.

The service is free, and developed solely for us to benefit without
having to worry about our minutes.

    If you're interested, sign up @ http://www.minutesminder.com

Feedback is always appreciated. Thank you in advance for supporting
    this project.

Good way to get your Identity stolen. Just give this guy your username
    and password for SprintPCS.

    NOT RECOMMENDED.

If one is continually going over their plan minutes, there's only one thing
to say ... Go to the next higher plan offered ... As to this service you
are trying to provide, just what benefit do you receive ...?

Uhm, I hate to sound rude, but I would never use this service. First
starters, I can log into my cell carrier's website just fine and check
    the minutes myself.

Second, in order to sign up for your service, you require that users
provide you with their account username and password, in effect handing
off the ability to view and modify personal account information, change
plans, even buy equipment, to an as-yet-unproven third party.

While I can't say either way that your intentions would be malicious,
I'd still say that people should be VERY wary of this.

Agreed. Sounds like some kind of scam to me... there are better ways to
keep track of your used minutes.

    Guys,

I totally understand where you're coming from. Although I'm sure it
doesn't mean much, I can assure you this service is not "stealing"
anything from anyone. The truth is that I personally got tired of
going over on minutes...seeing others do the same over and over gave
me the idea for this project a few years back. Sure, phone companies
will not like it, but who cares - I am trying to offer a service that
will help folks - not harm them.

Anyhow, it's just a project that needs users right now for testing
purposes - to see if it is useful.

If you don't want to participate, don't. I don't care what you choose
to do. Just wanted to let you know the service exists if you want to
    give it a try.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Over the past couple of years? Then why is your domain=20
    only 4 months old?

    Folks in this group:

Had I known the mere suggestion would be such a problem for you I
would have never said anything. Please note that I have been very
polite in my postings, and as I said before: do what you want. I
completely understand the concern expressed, and that's fine. I know
my intentions and you have a right to be cautious with your personal
information. Again, please don't sign up.

Yes, minutes information is readily available, but the problem is
usually the fact that folks are too lazy to check this on a regular
basis, and thus they end up with overage charges.

It's all a moot point now. Thanks for your comments.

To the detective who did a whois on my domain: you are indeed correct
that the domain itself is relatively new. As you probably already
know, however, development does not directly depend on owning the
domain name you want. Sometimes developers actually have development
servers to work on prior to purchasing a domain name.

Its not that you are trying to run a site that would be helpful to
people, but you also seem stunned that people would be suspicious of it.
With all the identity theft and account fraud in the net today, its
natural for people to be cautious. It's nothing personal.

Yes, but it contradicted your previous statement, and destroyed your
credibility in a situation where many folks suggested its not prudent to
handout account information to a stranger.

It's not a problem for us at all, Chris. We're merely pointing out that
anyone should be wary of giving out out their personal account
information to a third party. I don't even do it at Radio Shack, where
Sprint empowers their reps to make account changes. All it takes is an
errant or unscrupulous employee to ruin an A2-credit class account
(highest-rated prime-credit account you can get on Sprint).

Some people may care less if there's a risk that one's credit could be
ruined, and that's fine. And there's more at stake than your intentions
here. How do I know your site is secure? How do I know that you've
taken measures to help ensure that hackers won't gain access to your
    user account database?

Granted, the same security breaches may occur at Sprint, but I can
reasonably assume that if a security breach does happen, I could most
likely get my credit record corrected with Sprint's help, and probably
some monetary compensation for my troubles, even if I do have to hire a
lawyer to make things happen. As for you... I'm not sure you would have
the resources to help me out if my identity was stolen through use of
your site, nor the assets or financial resources to compensate anyone if
you were found legally liable for such a breach.

    > Please note that I have been very
    > polite in my postings, and as I said before: do what you want.

I'd say more like, politeness in front of thinly-veiled seething anger
that we've pointed out the inherent security risk you're dangling here,
    but to each his own.

    > To the detective who did a whois on my domain:

No detective work needed there. whois services deal in publicly
available information. Anyone can go to the network solutions site and
look up - for free - your personal contact info, including your phone
    number (did you know that?).
