    OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — March 18, 2004
Sprint (NYSE: FON, PCS) today announced that it has expanded its Original
Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) business communication system portfolio with
the addition of the Sprint i-SeriesTM, a pure Internet protocol (IP) key
    system.

The Sprint i-Series is a significant new key system alternative for small
and medium-sized businesses looking for the attractive IP integration that
only larger businesses have been able to deploy. The Sprint i-Series
delivers a robust set of IP-enabled applications designed to improve a
business’ unified communications capabilities, customer service and employee
    productivity.

To date, higher-end converged applications have been reserved for large
enterprise IP PBX systems not economically viable for small to medium size
businesses. The i-Series will consist of two IP Key Systems, the i4 and the
i9, as well as related IP phones, conferencing units, and software
applications. The i9 is sized for solutions for 40 or more users. The i4, to
be available mid-year, will set a new standard for telephony over IP
deployments by accommodating small business offices or locations with less
than 40 users a converged communications solution within a single piece of
voice/data hardware. The entire i-Series will be available exclusively
    through Sprint Authorized Dealers.

“Our goal with the Sprint i-Series is to help businesses do much more than
simply replace their traditional TDM key system,” said Brad Clark, vice
president of marketing and general manager of OEM operations at Sprint. “We
want our customers to have a significant advantage over their competition.
The i-Series provides a platform that puts leading-edge applications like
seamless wireless integration and unified messaging within a reach. Not only
will the applications give our customers an advantage, they also will find
    it extremely affordable.”

The i-Series will be distributed to Sprint Authorized Dealers through Sprint
North Supply, Sprint’s distribution and logistics division. Sprint North
Supply markets a growing portfolio of OEM products including a full suite of
future-ready business communications systems and CPE emphasizing
customer-centric design and ISO9001:2000 quality management.

Sprint will showcase the Sprint i-Series at the Voice on the Net (VON)
conference in Santa Clara, Ca., March 29-31 in exhibit booth #721.

    By Paula Rooney, CRN

    12:51 PM EST Mon., Mar. 22, 2004
Microsoft on Monday unveiled a corporate server designed to complement
its MapPoint Web Service, which allows partners and customers to integrate
realtime location data into business and consumer applications.

MapPoint Location Server (MLS), announced at the start of the CTIA
Wireless show in Atlanta and Microsoft's Mobile Developer Conference in San
Francisco, starts at $8,000 for 500,000 transactions and support for 50
roaming users. The server harnesses the company's recently enhanced MapPoint
Web Service 3.5 mapping service, one of several .Net services developed as
part of Microsoft's original .Net MyServices platform.

The MapPoint Location Server's plug-in architecture allows wireless
operators to hook their services into the server transparently to users. At
the CTIA Wireless show on Monday, Sprint and Bell Canada were the first to
announce realtime commercial services based on MLS in the U.S. and Canadian
    markets, respectively.

ISVs and solution providers--including Cubistix, Immedient,
Hewlett-Packard and Action Engine--are developing realtime location
solutions for business customers with MapPoint Location Server, Microsoft
    said.

The server is targeted at fleet management, asset tracking and
sales-force automation applications, or any application that requires
realtime location information of trucks, inventory and personnel, Microsoft
said. The server can help companies in the repair, service and shipping
sectors speed deliveries, deploy workers more rapidly to areas of need in
the field and access inventory information in realtime.

Down the road, Microsoft expects developers and partners to integrate
the realtime location server and MapPoint Web Service capabilities with CRM
and SQL applications. A salesman with a mobile phone, for instance, can
quickly access information about his top revenue-generating customers within
a five-mile radius of his location at any time, said said Steve Lombardi, a
    technical evangelist at Microsoft.

    Sprint Plants Wireless With Sunflower
    By Susan Rush
    March 19, 2004
    news@2 direct

Sprint is looking to sow the seed of wireless through a new deal with
a Kansas-based cable operator. Sunflower Broadband has agreed to bundle
Sprint PCS wireless phone service with its cable and broadband services.

Although terms of the partnership were not disclosed, Sunflower
Broadband says the agreement solidifies it as a full-service video, voice,
wireless and data provider. Sunflower Broadband serves nearly 80 percent of
all homes in the Lawrence, Eudora and Douglas County area.

"By adding wireless services into its bundled portfolio, Sunflower
Broadband is better equipped to address the growing competition from the
ILEC (incumbent local exchange carrier) while expanding the opportunity to
grow market revenue," says Ralph Hodge, Sprint's senior vice president of
    cable solutions.

This is not the first time Sprint has become a cable operator's
bedfellow. In December, the company forged a deal with Time Warner Cable to
deliver VoIP-based telephone subscribers spanning 17 markets. This is
however, according to Sprint, the first time a wireless carrier has teamed
up with the cable industry to offer wireless services.

QUALCOMM And Iusacell Announce Plans To Bring Wireless
Data Services Based On QUALCOMM’s BREW™ Solution To Subscribers In Mexico
    ATLANTA — March 22, 2004 — QUALCOMM Incorporated, pioneer
and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless
technology, and Iusacell, a provider of cellular telephony products and
services in Mexico, today announced the companies have signed a definitive
agreement for Iusacell to deploy downloadable wireless applications and
services based on QUALCOMM’s BREW solution. The rollout of BREW-based
services will enable subscribers to browse and download a variety of
applications — such as e-mail, entertainment, communication services, games
and ring tones — on their wireless devices using the operator’s new
    third-generation (3G) CDMA2000® 1X network.

"The potential for growth in Mexico’s wireless data market
is strong, and QUALCOMM is excited to team with Iusacell in this endeavor,"
said Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, president of the QUALCOMM Wireless and Internet
Group. "Iusacell’s selection of the BREW solution positions it as the leader

and effectively provide value-added services that respond to the evolving
    needs of our subscribers."

QUALCOMM’s BREW system provides products and services that
connect the mobile marketplace value chain, which includes application
developers, publishers, content providers, device manufacturers, operators
    and consumers.

Publishers and developers worldwide are generating revenue
from BREW-based applications and content, and 24 manufacturers have offered
more than 120 BREW-enabled device models to consumers. BREW is successfully
enabling the commercial wireless data services of many very successful

QUALCOMM Announces MediaFLO Content Distribution System
Ffor Network-Scheduled Delivery Oof High-Quality Wireless Content Via 3G
    Networks
    ATLANTA — March 22, 2004 — QUALCOMM Incorporated, pioneer
and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless
technology, today announced the MediaFLO™ Content Distribution System
(MCDS), an end-to-end product and service offering that enables secure and
efficient delivery of high-quality, network-scheduled video content to a
large number of subscribers for easy viewing on handsets. It can be deployed
    over today’s unicast (point-to-point) third-generation (3G) wireless
networks and will scale easily for tomorrow’s multicast (one-to-many)
    networks (see separate March 22, 2004 CDMA2000® 1xEV-DO enhancements
announcement from QUALCOMM). Demonstrations of the MCDS will be conducted at
QUALCOMM’s booth #3931 in Hall B4 during CTIA Wireless 2004 in Atlanta,
    March 22-24.

"Network technology advances, such as those found in
CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Gold Multicast, and the emergence of powerful new handsets
based on the MSM6500 chipset, Launchpad suite and BREW solution are lining
up perfectly for the service offering QUALCOMM’s MediaFLO system enables,"
said Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, president of QUALCOMM Wireless & Internet Group.
"The MediaFLO system’s intelligent use of off-peak network capacity enables
the delivery of high-quality video and audio that leverages the higher
processing power, higher screen resolutions, significantly improved sound
and much larger memory size of the wireless handsets coming to market in
    2004 and 2005."

The MCDS is designed specifically for wireless operators
looking to use these types of network and device advances to enhance their
multimedia service offerings, and for content providers seeking to reach
their target audiences when those consumers are on the go. The MCDS is a
client-server solution that can seamlessly handle multiple content streams
from multiple sources and play them on the client software using the most
popular video and audio codecs. While it can also support streaming content
in a single, intuitive user interface, its design focus enables operators to
use off-peak network capacity to provide subscribers immediate access to
high-quality content like their home viewing experiences without the
annoyances of progress bars and buffering delays.

With the MediaFLO system, the network operator determines
when the content is sent to the subscriber; the content arrives in the
background, is securely stored on the handset and the user selects and
watches content according to the program schedule. The least time-sensitive
content can be sent when there is little traffic on the network, leaving
only the most time-sensitive content for delivery during times when the
network is being used the most for other data services.

Users navigate the content via the MediaFLO Program Guide,
the user interface to the MediaFLO client. Because the content arrives on
the device prior to its scheduled viewing time, the user experiences the
immediacy and high-quality they are familiar with in their home viewing
experiences. But the MediaFLO system enables much more than passive viewing.
Because the wireless device that plays the content is also a node on the
Internet, the MediaFLO system supports interactivity, such as launching an
application that is used in conjunction with the viewing experience or going
to a Web site for more information on a subject of interest.

The MediaFLO system’s ability to support multiple codecs
and players, and its end-to-end digital rights management (DRM) solution for
protecting and controlling content usage and distribution, mean content
providers can easily extend their brands to their target audiences when they
are on the go and away from their TVs or PCs. Via this new distribution
channel, content providers can generate additional revenue by repurposing
their existing TV and Internet content or by creating new content for what
QUALCOMM believes will emerge over time as a new medium.

Initially, QUALCOMM is targeting the MediaFLO system for
BREW™ operators with deployed CDMA2000 1xEV-DO networks and plans for
1xEV-DO Gold Multicast networks. The MediaFLO client is a BREW-based
application and the system is designed to use the extensive billing features
of the BREW Distribution System. Like the BREW solution, the MCDS is
air-interface independent – it can be deployed on any IP packet data
network. QUALCOMM expects the rich, high-quality content the MCDS can
deliver to help drive demand for higher-tier multimedia handsets, starting
with those based on the MSM6500™ chipset and the Launchpad™ suite of
integrated advanced functions. Also, because the MediaFLO client is a
BREW-based application, integration and testing for device manufacturers is
straightforward, thereby reducing time to market.

Digit Wireless, LG Electronics And TELUS Mobility Announce
Production Of The World's First Fastap™ Enabled Mobile Phone
ATLANTA, March 22, 2004 - Today at the CTIA Wireless 2004
conference, Digit Wireless, consumer electronics giant LG Electronics and
Canadian wireless carrier TELUS Mobility announced an agreement to produce
the world's first Fastap™ enabled mobile phone.

Digit Wireless's Fastap keypad allows mobile phone users
to quickly and intuitively type text messages and other data using letter,
number and punctuation keys arranged neatly around the standard keypad on a
    mobile phone.

"Fastap brings keyboard functionality directly to a
standard-sized mobile phone, offering both business users and consumers an
intuitive interface designed specifically for easy text messaging and other
mobile data applications," said Chris Hare, President of Digit Wireless. "We
expect early partnerships with industry leaders such as TELUS Mobility and
LG Electronics to drive widespread adoption of Fastap enabled phones."

Said Neil Strother, senior analyst with In-Stat/MDR's
wireless research group: "Mobile text messaging has made great strides in
North America, but widespread usage remains elusive. One of the limiting
factors has been the traditional telephone keypad. But Digit Wireless'
unique and easy solution breaks the mold, and should enable some serious
    growth for text messaging."

TELUS Mobility is the first wireless provider in the world
to publicly commit to Fastap technology, and plans to offer Fastap enabled
mobile phones exclusively in Canada in 2004. TELUS Ventures, a corporate
investment fund dedicated to creating strategic alliances with
entrepreneurial organizations, has invested directly in Digit Wireless,
enabling the innovative technology company to expand its worldwide presence.

"TELUS Mobility's longstanding recognition that mobile
phones are not just for phone calls anymore has placed us in a North
American leadership position in messaging and wireless Web offerings. Our
partnership with Digit Wireless and LG Electronics to introduce the world's
first Fastap enabled phone is as natural a fit for us as the Fastap keyboard
is on a mobile phone," said Robert Blumenthal, Vice President of Products
    and Services at TELUS Mobility.

LG Electronics, the first wireless handset manufacturer to
announce production of Fastap enabled mobile phones, has an established
reputation as a wireless technology innovator. Its successful LG 5450 camera
phone, already offered across Canada by TELUS Mobility, has been modified as
a demonstration unit to carry Fastap keypad software and hardware. The
company is preparing a production model of a similar phone for introduction
    by TELUS Mobility in 2004.

"LG is excited to partner with Digit Wireless and TELUS
Mobility to offer the first handset that incorporates the truly innovative
Fastap technology," said Jae Ham, Vice President, CDMA Handsets, LG
Electronics. "LG is committed to providing cutting-edge wireless phones that
are compact, easy to use and unique in their functionality - and our
exclusive Fastap enabled phone certainly fits our mandate."

Verizon Wireless Selects Lucent Technologies As A Key
Supplier For Its BroadbandAccess High-Speed Data Service
ATLANTA and BEDMINSTER, NJ — March 22, 2004 — Verizon
Wireless, the nation’s leading wireless service provider, will continue to
    work with Lucent Technologies under a three-year 1xEV-DO (Evolution-Data
Optimized) agreement to provide wireless infrastructure technology for its
BroadbandAccess service – which uses Verizon Wireless’ third generation (3G)
data network – the fastest commercially available wide-area wireless data
service offered in the United States today. During the first two years of
this agreement, Verizon Wireless is expected to invest more than $525
million in Lucent’s wireless infrastructure technology to expand
BroadbandAccess. Verizon Wireless recently announced that, beginning in
2004, it plans to make BroadbandAccess service available throughout
additional portions of its national footprint.

This agreement to provide wireless infrastructure
technology for Verizon Wireless’ BroadbandAccess service is supplemental to
existing ongoing supply agreements between the two companies. In October
2003, Verizon Wireless commercially deployed its BroadbandAccess service in
two key markets with Lucent as the primary supplier in Washington, D.C.

    BroadbandAccess is powered by a 3G CDMA2000® 1xEV-DO
wide-area network. Under this agreement, Lucent will upgrade existing Lucent
base stations with 1xEV-DO Modem Cards and software and provide
1xEV-DO-enabled Flexent® Modular Cell 4.0 base stations as required. Verizon
Wireless will also upgrade its core network utilizing Lucent supplied
1xEV-DO Radio Network Controllers (RNCs) and Element Management Systems.
Lucent Worldwide Services will provide network installation, integration,
    and optimization services.

“Given the success of the initial commercial deployment of
this high-speed data network and our long-standing relationship with Lucent
Technologies, we look forward to working with Lucent again on this
industry-leading service,” said Richard Lynch, executive vice president and
chief technical officer, Verizon Wireless. “Our customers in Washington,
D.C. have told us how BroadbandAccess has improved their productivity and
has made them look smart to their customers.”

The BroadbandAccess service allows enterprise customers to
access information when they are out of the office at speeds that are faster
than those offered via any other commercially available wide-area wireless
data service in the United States. With data transmission bursts of up to 2
Megabits per second (Mbps), BroadbandAccess customers can download a 1
Megabyte e-mail attachment (for example, a small PowerPoint presentation or
a large PDF file), or receive three digital pictures (each 400 x 600 pixels)
in less than 30 seconds, which is three to four times faster than using EDGE
service, and as much as ten times faster than on a GPRS network. Customers
can also use this high-speed data service to access rich graphic content,
    video, music and more.

“We’re excited to take this next step with Verizon
Wireless as it expands the BroadbandAccess service,” said Cindy Christy,
president, Mobility Solutions for Lucent Technologies. “The new 1xEV-DO
network should quickly enable a whole host of new revenue-generating
multimedia services that businesses and consumers are demanding.”

service, and as much as ten times faster than on a competitor’s GPRS
network. Customers can also use this high-speed data service to access rich
graphic content, video, music and more.

“1xEV-DO is gaining momentum as a global solution,
providing enhanced 3G wireless services to end users everywhere,” said
Pascal Debon, President, Wireless Networks, Nortel Networks. “Nortel
Networks congratulates Verizon Wireless for initiating the wide-scale roll
out of 1xEV-DO, further proving that 3G is real and is quickly being
    embraced worldwide.”

Nortel Networks has been providing wireless equipment to
Verizon Wireless and its predecessor companies since 1996. The agreement to
provide wireless infrastructure technology for Verizon Wireless’
BroadbandAccess service is supplemental to existing ongoing supply

    ATLANTA (CTIA Wireless 2004) — March 22, 2004 — Sprint,
which owns and operates the largest, all-digital, all-PCS network in the
United States, and BMG, the global music division of Bertelsmann AG,
announced an agreement that delivers Music Tones from top artists to Sprint

with BMG will build upon Sprint’s extensive library of ringers ranging from
pop hits to retro TV themes to 70s classic rock.

“Sprint’s portfolio of ringers allows our customers to

fans a dynamic new way to enjoy music from their favorite artists,” said
Kieve Huffman, Vice President Digital Marketing and Licensing, BMG Strategic
Marketing. “The growing ring-tone market promises a whole new platform for

Sprint Customers Share More Than 100 Million Memories Via Enhanced Sprint
    Nationwide PCS Network
ATLANTA (CTIA Wireless 2004) — March 22, 2004 - Sprint announced today that
Sprint PCS Vision(SM) customers have shared more than 100 million images and
15-second video clips using Picture Mail(SM) and Video Mail via the enhanced
Sprint Nationwide PCS Network. Sprint was the first to introduce an
integrated camera phone to the United States in November 2002 with the
Sprint PCS Vision Phone 5300 by Sanyo. Today, Sprint offers nine camera
phones, including the newest Sprint PCS Vision Picture Phone PM-6225 by
Nokia. Two of the nine camera phones include a built-in camcorder.

Camera phones now make up nearly half of Sprint’s extensive device line-up,
which far exceeds that of any direct competitor, and more camera phones will
be added throughout the year. With an expanding lineup of camera phones, a
service that’s easy to use and includes an online album, a nationwide
network, and flat-rate pricing, Picture Mail continues to grow in
popularity. Building on this success, Sprint is bringing the latest in
innovation to its customers with the next evolution in messaging. Video
Mail, introduced in December 2003, allows customers to capture, view and
share 15-second video clips directly from their Sprint PCS Vision Video
Phones. Now, in addition to sharing everyday moments with Picture Mail,
    Sprint customers have the ability to share life in motion with Video Mail;
both services are powered by Lightsurf.

“Sprint is leading the industry in wireless data adoption with innovative
Sprint PCS Vision services that add value for our customers,” said Jeff
Hallock, vice president of consumer product marketing for Sprint. “We’re
absolutely thrilled with the growth in Picture Mail and Video Mail is
starting to take off. These advanced multimedia services provide Sprint
customers with more ways to stay connected with family and friends, all from
a single device that is always with them.”

Currently, Sprint offers two Sprint PCS Vision Video Phones with built-in
cameras and camcorders, including the VM4050 by Toshiba and the VM4500 by
Sanyo, which will be featured at CTIA 2004 in Atlanta on March 23 at the
Wireless Widget display, booth #5071 at the Georgia World Congress Center.
Sprint has plans to add a third Video Mail phone from Samsung in the second
    quarter of 2004.

At the end of 2003, total customers on the Sprint Nationwide PCS Network
exceeded 20 million and Sprint was serving more than 3.2 million Sprint PCS
Vision subscribers, up from 2.7 million at the end of the third quarter.

Here are a couple of more items that are making news from this week’s CTIA
    Wireless 2004 show in Atlanta.

Microsoft is hot on the trail of location-based services for cell phones.
On Monday at the CTIA Wireless 2004 show here, the software giant
announced partnerships with U.S. cell phone service provider Sprint and with
Bell Mobility in Canada to sell services, mainly to businesses, that exploit
a mobile phone’s ability to broadcast its exact location.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    ----

A cell phone ring tone vending machine introduced here Monday is the
latest example of how major entertainment companies are selling versions of
their products directly to America’s 156 million cell phone subscribers,
rather than partner with service providers.
The machines, which work with most cell phones, will debut at Best Buy,
Radio Shack and convenience stores in the next three months, said Robert
Pons, chief executive of SmartServe, a wireless e-mail specialist teaming
with touch screen maker Merritt Industries to introduce the vending
machines. They use touch screens to guide users through the purchase
    process.

Shareholders file suit over Sprint stock recombination plan

By HEATHER HOLLINGSWORTH, Associated Press Writer
    (Published March 9‚ 2004)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Sprint shareholders have filed at least six lawsuits
over the company's decision to combine its two tracking stocks into a single
common stock, the telecommunications giant said Tuesday in a regulatory
    filing.
The suits were filed against Sprint Corp. and its directors by PCS common
stockholders after the company announced Feb. 29 that it would combine the
separate stocks under the FON symbol on the New York Stock Exchange.

One suit was filed in the Supreme Court of the State of New York. The rest
were filed in district court in Johnson County, Kan.

The suits seek an injunction and monetary damages, Sprint said in its annual
report with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

In 1998, the company created a tracking stock for its wireless business,
Sprint PCS, which trades on the NYSE under the symbol PCS. Sprint, based in
Overland Park, Kan., has just over 1 billion PCS shares and about 906
    million FON shares outstanding.

PCS common stock will be eliminated and each share of PCS common stock will
be converted into one-half share of FON common stock on April 23, 2004,
leaving about 1.4 billion total shares outstanding after the recombination.
Sprint plans to continue paying the same quarterly dividend of 12.5 cents on
    all FON shares.

When the recombination was announced, Sprint said it was expected to reduce
earnings between 2 and 3 cents per share and reduce the company's free cash
by $200 million in 2004 and $300 million in 2005.

"We are confident that any lawsuit filed in connection with the
recombination is without merit," Sprint spokesman Dan Wilinsky said.

Sprint's articles of incorporation allow that any time after Nov. 23, 2001,
the tracking stocks could be recombined at the board's discretion. He said
the company conducted an extensive study to determine a fair ratio for
converting PCS stock to FON stock.

"The board concluded that the resulting conversion ratio is fair to each
    class of shareholders," Wilinsky said.

Telecommunications companies frequently created tracking stocks for their
wireless units in the 1990s with the possibility of spinning them off in the
    future.

But concerns arose that executives were managing two entities with sometimes
competing interests and that tracking stocks had become a way for executives
to receive excessive compensation, said Brandon Rees, a research analyst for
    the AFL-CIO office of investment.

"There's a concern about this, about tracking stocks in general," he said.
"Unwinding it in a way that is fair to shareholders, I suspect that may be
    what the lawsuit is addressing."
