I think it is a standard WAP 2.0 portal that Yahoo! built just for SPCS -
can anyone check the "View URL" function on their Vision phone when at the
home Yahoo! page and paste the full URL?

http://wap.oa.yahoo.com takes to the United States Yahoo wap portal.

http://wap.yahoo.com takes you to a country selector. For France,
the link is: http://fr.wap.yahoo.com Notice the county comes before
the "wap", but for the U.S. it comes after the "wap".

BTW, you cannot access http://vision.sprintpcs.com from your computer's
web browser. You'll get a server not found error. Apparently there is
some sort of proxy that allows access only via a Sprint PCS phone.

Now WAP is a little bit of a misnomer, as the pages are actually in
HTML format, instead of the traditional "WML" wap format, so you'll
be able to use the Internet Explorer browser to view them.

You'll also notice that when you use a computer's web browser, you
won't see access key numbers as on your cellphone, i.e.
    1. Mail
    2. Messaging
    3. Photos
    4. Sports
    Etc.....

Since I use AIM, Yahoo Mail and Messenger most the time, I added these
two bookmarks to my cellphone's personalized home page:
    http://wim2.aol.com/?service=Sprint3G for AIM
    http://wap.oa.yahoo.com/raw?dp=mail&...&Referer=yahoo for MAIL
    http://wap.oa.yahoo.com/raw?dp=msgr&Referer=yahoo for MESSENGER

You can code to view one page in a desktop browser and a different page in a
mobile browser. You can also exclude things from 1 or other (like don't
show pictures on the mobile phones)

WML is used on older phones(2g). 3G uses XHTML which is becoming the
standard on desktop computers as well. It's HTML 4.0's next version that
works for mobile phones and desktops. Mobile 3g phones can read HTML but
not all pages. HTML is very relaxed but WAP and mobile phones are strict.
That's why they use XHTML and not WML/XLM any more.

    Re: Vision URL for Yahoo!

    Thanks for the answers....

I have both T-Mobile and SPCS, and am trying to access the nicer (graphical
icon) version of the Yahoo! portal on my T-Mobile phone. wap.oa.yahoo.com
works fine, but it would be nice to see the Yahoo! portal on my T-Mobile
phone just as it appears on my SPCS phone.

Unfortunately, I do not have access to my regular SPCS phone right now
(Sanyo 5300) as I have lent it to a relative for a 3-day trip, and I would
hate to call them just for something this trivial.

Does the Yahoo! portal URL on Vision change from wap.oa.yahoo.com? I use
the Sony Ericsson T610 on T-Mobile, which displays WAP 2.0 sites just fine.
I think WAP 2.0 is xhtml compliant (is it?), since I can see graphical sites
on this T610 just fine from other providers. I doubt wap.oa.yahoo.com is
the *exact* same address SPCS uses on their home deck for the Yahoo!
    portal - is it?

    Thanks for the insight!
