Maybe I missed the boat on this one, but I just noticed Sprint added the
    VI500 to their site.

My local Sprint store in San Diego doesn't know this phone exists and don't
know when they might get some in.

When I was shopping for a new phone a few days ago in SF, I checked out the
VI600. It seemed bulky for a candy-bar phone, and I didn't care for the
black-on-silver case. I found the keys to have a weird feel and small for
the size of the phone. The screen was 4K color (I think), which gives it a
muddled pastel readout. It is not a camera phone, so the screen is not the
64K's on the high-end Sprint phones. Unfortunately, for text reading
purposes I think a high-contrast monochrome screen would have been better.

I can't comment on its reception. I gave it a pass for exterior reasons.
    (Yeah, I am shallow.)

I just bought it, it willl be delivered Tuesday. If I don't like it after a
few days I'll send it back. I really don't want it to be bulky as I love my
    6200.

It's also known as an Audiovox 8450. And tell them to look at the=20
    Device tool in Wizard.

The VI-600's appearance blows. Could they have made it any uglier with
that black cover? It looks like a bat phone, or something. I used it
for a while and thought it's performance as a voice phone was very
good. Reception is excellent, although the signal meter doesn't show
it. I also thought it was lightweight but solid-feeling. I liked the
size. The display left something to be desired, though, and it really
    is just butt-ugly.

It's also listed as a "Curitel" though the Wizard.

So, it's either an Audiovox, Toshiba, or a Curitel.

It's in, I shuddered when I saw the 9100/9155 style box labeling back
in (labeled sideways, so if you stack them like the other phones, you
have to scan verticaly, not horizontaly, or you stack them end-on-end
    rishing an avalance).

(Trust me, having to pause, even for a second, when you're trying to
scan 1,000-4,000 phones, it is a pain in the rear).

Give it a week, the distribution methods put some stores on the back
burner, but if the store is in San Diego, then they should be a
priority, maybe their shipping schedule is later, so they may not get
them until early to mid next week). We just got ours earlier this
    week.

Or it could be sitting in a box in the back, and no body unpacked it yet.

    Curitel just bought out AudioVox.

Snicker yourself. Executive Service has helped me a few times when *2

No- its a conspiracy- they're not going to unpack them until John F'in Kerry
is in the White House. Oh....no..... that's not it (wrong conspiracy). They
aren't going to unpack them because they're on a SECRET LIST of warrantied
phones. Crap....that's not it, either. Oh yeah- they're waiting for
Executive Services to call them to authorize selling them, but Exec Services
has been too busy answering the phone, because some whiney crybaby is taking
    up all their time.
