Did your fone switch cell sites by any chance? I understand that will also
adjust the clock. Probably a long shot, especially if you stayed near your
wife (or her phone) --- but that might could explain it.

Or maybe your wife has the special "secret" coverage plan --- you know, the
one that's not published. If that's the case then there's not much you can
do about it. There's a guy here tho that could help --- what's his name?
CellPhilMaster.Dick I think it was. He's pretty smart --- and tells everyone
just how smart every day of the week. Look him up, he knows it all, or so he
    says.

I claimed I wouldn't speculate on the differing behaviors, Tom,
but if I DID speculate, it'd be along the lines of switching between =
    cell sites.
Her phone spent the night on her downstairs charger,
while mine spent the night on my upstairs charger.
Two strong cells and a weaker one provide service at our house.

However, to avoid logic, I think I'll assume it was a secret Sprint plot
    to abuse more customers.
Thanks for suggesting that. Do you think we can we get it into the FAQ?

I do soooooooo stand corrected...*I* admit I was wrong. What was I

JRW is thinking of slapping Scott aside the head with his Sanyo, but
that would be abuse of the phone and not covered under warranty.

Not your fault, John...Scott was still having horror thoughts of
Philly doing a remake of Three Faces of Eve in drag.....

That did it, JR! You made me lose all composure.
Best excuse in Scott's favor I've heard this week.

It's alright- if I wasn't on the Sprint Apologists mailing list, I never
would have known what to do. Of course, its a real short letter- you only
get six minutes to read it before a Supervisor comes to your house and rips
it from your hands. The worst part is after he takes the letter from you,
he is forced by company policy (and under threat of termination) to sell you
the next one. They have a hard quota of 15 apologist sales per hour.

Of course, if the letter arrives ripped, they won't send you another one-
its automatically determined to be Apologist Abuse of the letter.

Yeah- the head slap is on the secret list of things they won't cover.

Sleep with the light on again...opps, that might overheat your phone
and cause the display to bleed. Sorry, bad idea.

It'll be Ok- I borrowed some of Phil's aluminum foil- he's down to only
changing his headgear once a week now, and I hear Alcoa gave him a great
retention deal if he didn't go to Reynolds and bought in bulk. He'll never
admit to it, though- something about a nondisclosure agreement

Precisely synchronized system time is imperative to the success of
CDMA. And the clock on your handset derives its synchronization
latently from the CDMA sync channel. After synchronization has been
achieved, the clock runs asynchronously until another access of the
sync channel resets the clock, which is why most CDMA handsets will
continue to maintain time while AMPS roaming until power-cycled.
However, for example, my handset clock w/o the benefit of periodic
reads of the sync channel while AMPS roaming gains at least a minute
    or two per 24 hours.

The compelling question then is: what prompts an access of the sync
    channel?

Several user-side or network-side actions can prompt an access or
re-access of the sync channel. First of all, powering-on or
power-cycling the handset will always initiate a read of the sync
channel to establish synchronization w/ the network system time. On
the other hand, routine registration - timer-based, distance-based, or
zone-based - and even a static handset quietly completes at least
several timer-based registrations per day - should not require a
re-read of the sync channel, though this might vary by handset
manufacturer. Originating or receiving a voice call, SMS,
circuit-switched data connection, or packet-switched data connection
will also not prompt access of the sync channel. However, termination
of that transmission - even one as brief as that of an SMS over the
paging channel - will always once again prompt a re-sync w/ system
time via an access of the sync channel, which will also reset the
    clock.

Therefore, on the biannual nights when Daylight Savings Time begins or
ends, unless your handset receives a call or an SMS after 2am, your
handset clock will continue to operate non-sync and you will awaken to
find the incorrect time until one of the above events prompts a
re-access of the CDMA sync channel.

I'm not even trying to guess at the explanation for that. :-(

Oh, that's simple John ... it's because her phone is a self starter ... and
your phone needs to be pushed into it ... <eg>

Phew, I'm glad you went this way ---- it just seems more probable than the
other choices that might exist. As a matter of fact I hear Laurer is
instituting a special plan, with secret handshake, that SPCS will pay you
$1,500 per month for unlimited service. Can't say this a real plan ----
'cause I never got the secured memo from Executive Services --- yet (I'm
    hopeful, tho).

    >Thanks for suggesting that. Do you think we can we get it into the FAQ?

Perhaps --- but the Supreme Taco seems to have gone missing. Perhaps when
his FAQ got to 92 meg his machine blew a gasket ---- that or he's scouring
the public domain so he can repost the info here -- to help us.
