I don't like the screen. Try setting the contrast to the maximum
setting. If you want a loud ringer, you may also wish to look elsewhere.
I can't think of any major losses for you here against the A460,
except moving from a flip to a candybar.
Robert M. has recently posted a link providing some background info on
the Curitel/Audiovox brand maintainance they're working on. Google or
look elsewhere in the forum, and I'm sure you'll find it. I've had an
Audiovox in the past, they have been good phones, but they are very,
    very basic.
I've had my greasy paws on the VI600 for a couple of hours, but for the
best reviews, check some websites. My personal favorite is Sprintusers.com.

Audiovox has dome pretty well in the past, the 9100 and 9155 both did
extremely well, and the 8460 / VI600 is doing very well.

You didn't mind going from a flip phone to a candybar? Most of my
customers would have been irate at that.

CDM9155SP had three annoyances, smallest issue to biggest:

1: Service programming. There were two modes, or methods or whatever. I
never knew which service programming menu I was going to see, and
neither did the Sprint rep. This phone was the only one that had me
holding the line for a walk through instead of just recording
MDN/IMSI/Lock code. Customer never sees it, only an issue on occasion.
Only real problem is if the phone gets misprogrammed because of the
    laberynthene menus.

2: Menus. Most every manufacturer uses some directional keypad with
either a soft key for "Ok" or "Select" or an actual "Ok" "Select" or
"Yes" key. Audiovox, for most of the phone menus uses the right arrow.
No issue once you're used to it, but I've had many a new customer not
get it at first. "Okay, how do I get to the menu?" or "Where's the F key?"

3: Battery life. Making the inside of a phone tiny so the battery can be
larger is probably quite expensive. First, the making insides tiny takes
some doing, then you end up putting more money into the battery anyhow.
The CDM9155SP was never a high end phone, so I can see that they didn't
spend a fortune here, but most people I sold these phones to did
complain about the battery. My Verizon experiment (thankfully without
contract!) was done with a similar CDM4000 and I had about the same
problem. The battery wasn't bad on its own, but the battery indicator
was like a Sanyo RF readout. It was full until it was nearly empty.

Not that the CDM9155SP was bad. It had a nice browser, good button
layout, reception that I'd rate a B, nice speaker and mic, and a pretty
decent speaker phone. Durability was good too. In anger, I bounced my
CDM4000 off the ground once when it decided to go from three bars of
battery to shut down in a four minute call. Left a metallic blue skid
mark on the floor, but kept on ticking - after I plugged it in.

The VI600 looks like the lucky recipient of some thinking and soul
searching at the Audiovox camp. I've not heard of any major issues on
the battery, the menu systems look much improved, and I'm excited that
there is an actual OK button now.

heck, that sounds like a former ComputerCity salesperson, giving a non
    answer to a legitimate question"

"is this Ricoh LED printer as good as a Laser"?

"Well, we sell a lot of them".

The volume of sales says Zero, nada, zip about the functionality of the
    phone.

I prefer the flip phone with an external caller ID, They didnt have any in
stock and this is a warranty replacemant. They are "trying" to find a better
replacement. I guess we'll see what they come up with.

That is not what I meant and you know that. I don't care how many of
each handset is sold, I go solely by what I see coming into my tech
rooms with issues, how often, and what the issues are.

I don't see many of the AudioVox phones coming in, so they're doing
    pretty well.
