Virgin Mobile & web surfing

Is there any way to access websites using a Virgin Mobile phone -
It has the capability, but you can only access the VM sites -

On phones prior to the Vox 8500 (I believe), if you hold down the Virgin
Extras button after starting the browser, it will bring up an "advanced"
menu option, and a "go to" website is one of the options on that list...
as well as "bookmarks". If you select "Go to", you can manually enter a
wap website and go to it.

I know on the newer Vox 8610 and Kyocera models, Virgin Mobile disabled
this.
