successfully syncing i500 with xp?

Anyone out there successfully syncing their i500 to palm desktop
under windows xp? I followed the instructions on loading the
software before plugging in the cradle, but it doesn't sync.
AND xp still insists on trying to load drivers. That indicates
to me that something in the driver load from cd simply didn't
work, or that there's some sort of driver conflict issue trying
to sort itself out.

I even went to the palm support site and followed their xp
troubleshooting advice (killing off unwanted hardware devices,
blowing away .inf files related to the palm). But no joy.

Anyone else get past these problems? Any advice?

Wish I could be of help, but the best I can do is tell you that
syncing the i500 works fine for me. I only did it briefly with Palm
Desktop; since then I've used various versions of MS Outlook via the
Chapura software that is included -- but it goes through the same USB
drivers. It's been working fine now since August 2003.

It's probably the most complete i500 forum around. Try searching there
before posting, of course. I recall some people who had problems using
a copy of the CD downloaded from the Samsung website that didn't work;
it was either different from or a corrupted version of the one you get
from Sprint with the phone. But if you have the original Sprint CD,
that's not your problem.
