Today I really had to control my temper because I almost told Sprint to take
their service and shove it up their asses!

For 4 days now I've been having trouble with my Sanyo RL2000. At different
times the phone will power down, turn off and then re-start itself without
me being anywhere near it. How do I know this? Because at work I leave it
on my desk and co-workers have heard my shutdown tone and start-up tones
several times and told me that "I missed a call" only to find that I didn't
miss anything ... it was my phone powering down and re-starting.

Last night (Thursday) I called Sprint's tech support and a nice lady named
Drea told me that this was a known technical issue with this model phone and
that I should take it back to my Sprint store for replacement. Now ...
here's where it gets good! Two days ago my wife, using the SAME model
phone, took her's back to the store and they gave her no troubles ...
replaced it for free and gave her an even better phone! Of course, I didn't
learn about this until after I'd made the call to tech support.

So tonight I go to one of the two Sprint stores in Toledo, OH (the one
closest to where my wife works) and reported the very same issue. Did they
do anything? No! Just told me that I'd have to waste another 30 minutes of
drive time and drive halfway across town to ANOTHER store and have them look
it over. WHY? If it's a known issue ... why the hassles? My wife went to
the VERY same store and the asst. manager traded her's in without incident.
But tonight I get nothing but sh*t from these jerks about mine, even though
mine had been doing it longer and more often ... AND ... was the exact same
model as her phone and that very same store did it 36 hours earlier!

BUYER BEWARE ... customer service is NOT what it used to be! If you have a
problem you're expected to jump through hoops and bend over and take one up
the backside before Sprint will do anything to make things right! This
phone is not even 30 days old ... neither is my account ... and I was told
that this phone has also been discontinued due to this very problem! SO WHY
    THE ISSUE?!

Now this might not seem like a big issue to some, driving 30 minutes (about
20 miles) across town to solve something (even though you've been told now
twice that it can't be solved!) ... but it was for me! I live 50 miles
south of Toledo and commute each day an hour to and from so after 8½ hours
at work and one on the road getting up there it makes for a VERY long day!
I told the "customer service" person this and it didn't mean sh*t.

Sorry for venting here ... but I felt that you all should know what has
happened and how THIS could happen to you as well!

Great phone! I just replaced the Treo 600 that I bought (Yecchhh...hated
it....) with the RL 4920, and I love it.

BTW, Did you happen to share your feelings about the 1st store's
customer service with the mgmt at the 2nd store? I haven't had anything
as bad as your experience, but I am NEVER happy about having to visit a
Sprint store for fear of the line that is not actually a line.. waiting
to be the next in the herd to finally called on for service....
