a600 Software Upgrade - SMS?

Was a software upgrade ever released for the a600 to allow standard SMS
messaging? I know there was always a rumor of such.

No phone that accesses Shortmail will *ever* be upgraded to use SMS. =20

As of the time I ceased working there, SPCS not only wasn't planning to=20
do anything like what you hope, they weren't even letting people look=20
into it.

The just want to keep pushing people to new handsets even though my A600 is
less than a year old. :-)
