Is there a way to send a (numeric) SMS message,
from a landline, directly to a Sprint phone,
without having the phone ring? (I.e., going
    directly to "messaging.")

    Thanks!

By sending to [email protected], but that may cost
the recipient money because it's sent as a text message. Numeric pages never
    cost the recipient money.

I should have been a bit clearer... I'm trying to use a landline *phone*
and, unfortunately, a landline phone doesn't have an "@" symbol! <g>

    No, you're fine.

    I missed "landline".

You could use TAP, but that requires a computer...

I don't know if Sprint has any voicemail backdoors.

I've got the gut feeling, not.

I'm using a device, called "PageOut," which sends a
numeric page to a device, whenever I get a (landline)
    Voicemail.

It does just fine, to an alphanumeric pager, but that
means having to carry my pager in addition to my phone.
(We just moved and I'm no longer "on call." Yahoo!)

    Thanks, anyway!

Unfortuantely, not for text/numeric messages. You can only log into
your voicemail and send someone else a voice message through that, but
    not SMS.
