Time to get new phones (I think) to replace my wife's old Motorola
    TimePort and my Samsung A500.

I was interested in comments regarding the current lineup of phones. I
prefer flip phones with Vision. I don't care that much about camera
phones or video phones. They are secondary features, nice to have but
not essential. What is essential is good performance as far as holding
signals, good battery life, and an easy-to-read screen. Also, I'd like
to have an external display, so that I don't have to open the phone
before I can see who's calling. I had considered the Samsung VI660, but
its lack of an external display is a deal-breaker.

Comments? Or pointers to resources other than the Sprint website for me
    to research the phones?

Look at the user reviews on www.phonescoop.com. And I believe the VI660
has received some poor comments on this board, as well. From my
recollection, the Samsung A680 and Toshiba VM4050 have been well-regarded.
