F & CA $5 being all but eliminated?

I notice on the website now that F &CA costs $20 for all rate plans which
include 500 or more minutes.
In my market, there's only one offering with less than 500 minutes -- it's a
35 300 minute plan.

In other words, the $5 option appears to be all but eliminated. Comments
welcome. I'm hoping I missed something.

Dan, I'm looking at the F & C plans for Eugene, and I see that there are two
plans with less than 500 minutes, F & C for $35 & F & F for $35.

In both of these options, the F & CA option is still $5/mo. The $5 F & CA
option appears to be available for any F & F or F & C plan.

Maybe you didn't scroll down the page far enough?

I live in the West. No single carrier covers this region of the country
completely and/or seamlessly. If I go on a roadtrip the distinct possibility
exists that I might travel through areas where Sprint does not provide native
coverage, in which case I want to purchase the Fair and Flexible America option
to avoid getting charged. (F&F is what I'm on now.)

I have been informed that I can add or delete the America option at any time
without a contract extension, so this is a good option for me. Right now, I
don't need it as I am not traveling.

That, and once you get off the beaten path in the high desert, signal
fades rapidly.

I mobilized out of the National Guard armory in Apple Valley last
November. Had I known your number, Steve, I could have said hello and

I still see it as $5 in Eugene as well as here in Atlanta -- maybe you
saw Add-a-Phone instead?

Depends on what part. Good coverage mostly in the Victor Valley, where I live,
with one problem spot out near the old air base. I think we were okay driving
out to Lancaster last year too, but don't remember if we used the Sprint phone
back then - I was using Verizon at the time.

Indeed. We were driving around in the humvees and whatnot, ogling the
women as soldiers are wont to do. Lunch ever day consisted of either an
MRE (ick) or going to the Wendy's at the gas station nearby.

A few of my buddies live down there, so when they get back from Iraq (I
was spared such an experience due to a foot injury) I may be heading
back down to say hi.

limitation.
i.e. Any new subscriber who needs 500 or more minutes just saw a $15/month
increase in cost if they desire or require F &CA.

Not a big deal for me personally, as I average 233 minutes per month between
two lines so all of the base plans have me covered. I would not, however,
say
my usage is typical.

Dan,

Where are you getting your information about the $20/month F&CA charge
for new subscribers on plans of 500 minutes or more? Is the information
coming from the Sprintpcs web site or are you getting it from Sprint on
the phone?

I just went to the web site, changed my location to Eugene, OR, and
clicked on the check plans link. I didn't sign in as a current
subscriber so the system would see me as a new subscriber. I selected a
700 minute free and clear plan along with F&CA. The invoice generated
by the system when I said I was finished, showed the F&CA plan at a cost
of $5/month.

And....it doesn't say "Free and Clear America." Look further down the
page and you will see F and CA listed for $5.
