My Sanyo 4700 is dying-how does the 4920 compare?

My trusty Sanyo 4700 has developed an intermittent power and charging
problem. The power connector is showing signs of wear and tear.

Since I don't need a camera phone, just a telephone that works in
marginal signal areas, what's being offfered from SPRINT that will
provide at least the same level of reception reliability, voice
quality and battery life?

Has anyone with a 4920 or one of the new Nokia phones and also had a
4700?

I've had my 4920 for a couple months now and love it,,, sturdy phone, good
reception...

The Nokia works as well as the 4700 on reception

Our needs are similar. I had a 4700 and was happy with it, but wanted
to upgrade to a Vision phone. I have had the 4920 for about 6 weeks
ago and have been very happy with my upgrade. The battery life is
incredible, the reception seems to surpass the 4700 and I am really
happy with the extra features on the unlimited Vision plan.

The 4920 is a perfect upgrade if you were happy with the 4700, IMO.

I also have an aging 4700, and speculate that besides the definitely
longer battery life of the 4920, in comparison to the 7400, for
example, the 4920 would also seem to have better signal holding
capacity, in that it is larger and "stronger" - but I could be wrong
with the newer engineered phones. If not stronger and better reception
capacity, there would seem to be little advantage to the larger size
of the 4920.

Could someone give thier opinion of the reason that the 4920 exists,
when smaller, more practical phones, such as the Sanyo clamshell
phones?

I don't believe smaller is more practical or advantageous... The 4920 is
about right for me. I upgraded from the LG 5225 flip phone because it was
too small, flimsy and the sound quality from that phone sucked. The 4920
isn't really that large anyhow, it is simply a bit larger than the average
flip phone. The sound quality, reception and battery life are far better
than any other phone I have owned, and the list is long ...

I don't find my 4920 to be particularly large. It fits nicely in my
any pocket as well as in my hand. It also feels much sturdier than
the clamshell type phones I've held.

The reception also seems wonderful, although I must admit that I did
not really have any problems with my 4700. I have not yet had a
disconnected call with my 4920.
