That is correct. I does not log calls while the phone is off or not getting
    a signal.

Meaning of "Missed Calls" in Call History

I have a Samsung A660. Under "Call History" is an entry for "Missed
Calls." I assumed that this would be a list of all calls that were made to
the phone that I did not pick up, but I'm beginning to suspect that it does
not include calls that were made when the phone was off and that were
picked up by voicemail. Can somebody please clarify for me which of the
following definitions of "Missed Calls," if any, is correct for this phone?

    - Any call made to the phone that wasn't picked up, even if the phone was
    turned off.

    - Any call made to the phone where the phone got the call but that was
not picked up. Calls made when the phone is off or out of the Sprint
service area (presumably including roaming) would thus not be included
    in the Missed Call history.

Thanks. The phone documentation uses the term "missed calls" repeatedly,
but it never says exactly what that means.

A missed call means the phone was powered on and idle and using Sprint's
network or roaming on a compatible network, and it received a call (and
rang or buzzed or flashed) but no one answered it. It may have rung too
quietly to be heard in a noisy place. It might have been on vibrate but
placed where you couldn't feel it.

The phone can not log calls meant for it if it is powered off, or
'searching for service', or roaming on a compatible network that did not
deliver the call to it, or actively transmitting or receiving a PCS
Vision datacomm/webbrowse/picture session (displaying solid Vision
arrows). There is nothing in the network that notifies the phone of a
call attempt after-the-fact, aside from a voicemail notification.

    Incorrect.

Mostly correct. If the phone is on, and roaming, then theorectically
calls should be delivered to it as long as the phone has rpoperly
registered with the network. However, when the phone is off out out of
a coverage are where it can receive calls, then the missed calls log
    will not register those calls.

The reason for this is that the call log only registers calls it has
received based on caller ID info coming to it. If the phone is off,
obviously it isn't receiving that info, and so no log entry is made.
